Most of you have characters already made up, but I'll start this thread now. Those that don't have characters made up can still post it later.
Open ended so no post by date on this.
For your free fate point all you need to do is post a bit more on your background. This shows off the one thing that play by post games have over playing face to face - time to think and be really creative.
Flesh out your home world. Name it and give me some more information on it. For example (Death World) what type of death world was it? Was it full of giant man eating slugs or was the atmosphere that toxic that life was only sustainable in certain areas?
When selected to become a space marine, you were a heroic level human. Give one story from your history displaying your heroic deeds, it could be the event which got you selected to become a space marine or just another event where you were suitably heroic.
Hey guys, figured I would get this rolling with an opening post here. Without further ado, here is the short background.
Lukas Konrad was born on the quiet civilised world of Hathor Secondus, his parents both at the time serving in the planetary Imperial Guard stationed on that world. He never found out the exact events of it but both parents died serving the Imperuim and Lukas was taken in by the Schola Progenium as tradition to orphaned children of high ranking Guardsmen. Now in the care of the Ecclesiarchy he was from his home world to the fortress world of Krato Prime and raised by the Missionaries. Marked from an early age as a prime candidate to join the ranks of the elite Storm Troopers, Lukas was schooled in weapons drills and combat tactics, setting an Academy record for field stripping a lasgun that stood until the day he left.
Before his training was finished the world of Krato Prime was raided by a splinter fleet of Chaos raiders. With the planetary weapons shut down from internal sabotage the armies of the lost and the damned made land fall. Facing a full invasion the planetary Imperial Guard was mobilised and with it the oldest cadets of the Schola Progenium. A week into the war and Lukas was assigned to a unit holding one of the last Imperial starports in that sector of the world. Three companies of Imperial Guard where stationed around it to hold the last life line to orbital reinforcements. Soon after the last group of reinforcements arrived the Traitor Guard of Chaos began their assault on the Starport. After the first hours of the assault and several hundreds dead on both sides, Lukas was without squad or command having been cut off from the main Imperial strongholds but he continued to fight, picking of lone traitors and unaware squads with traps. As the last of the defence lines of the strongholds fell droppods of the Black Templars started hitting the surface. In one hour the thirty Space Marines wiped out over twenty times their number and secured the installation. Out of his class of 200 Whiteshields, Lukas was the only survivor located by the Black Templars, found still in his bunker and with a pile of traitor corpses on either side of him and exhausted. Hardly able to stand and with spent powerpacks scattered around him, Lukas still pushed himself up to meet the advancing Marines with a salute. Like a good guardsman he held the line, like a great guardsman he had lived.
Fenix, I am relying on you to fill in the blank of my name because true to my nature I have forgotten it though I am sure it was Makradon or something along those lines...
Also, not so familiar with 40k universe yet so apologies if my back story seems basic or doesn't tally up with '40k facts' in which case I can adjust it.
Makradon was born on the Death World of Delock. The planet is dominated by vast wastes of ice, where human survival is only possible surrounding one of the many contstantly active volcanoes causing living conditions so extreme that it is listed in the Apocrypha of Skaros as one of the most deadly and turbulent worlds inhabited by humanity. The entire planet is known to freeze over as it moves away from its suns orbit. Studies by the Adeptus Mechanicus have also determined that the fauna residing on Delock are some of the most hardy and dangerous of any world.
My father was the leader of the local crime syndicate and my mother a whore who fell for his devious charm, as a child I was often alienated by those I attempted to make friends with due to my father’s reputation and beaten as such when I complained to him, thus by my teenage years I had developed in to somewhat of an outcast, spending my time wandering the frozen wastes preferring to live on the small fauna I was able to hunt and the resources the wild provided rather than rely on the limited support of my so called parents.
It wasn’t until my early years of maturity that I discovered my father’s syndicate was suffering at the hands of young, fresh and enterprising competition that I learned of his truly heretic ways, he had turned to the worshipping of the Gods of Chaos in attempt to tip the balance of his private war. However; despise him as I might he was still my father and I tried to convince him to see the error of his ways but his mind was already beyond rescue, as if his poisoned soul had recognised my attempts to cure him he attacked me but my time in the wild had made me strong so after a short struggle I stared in to his eyes as I choked the worthless existence from his body.
To avoid the retribution from those loyal to my father and too blind to see his ill ways I fled in to the wild and existed how I knew best and at this I became highly proficient, I wandered from place to place offering my services to deal with troublesome beasts and outlaws in exchange for the items that neither could provide me, and so my reputation grew...

Talsis is a vicious desert planet on the Eastern Fringe. It is a frequently blasted by harsh winds and often cut off by warp storms. For a long time it was not part of the Imperium, instead it's people were broken into nomadic tribes. The most powerful tribes were those that worshipped the one known to them as Dread T'Char, the changing one. All other tribes lived in fear of the servants of change until a vessel from the heavens crashed into the mountains, to be found by a tribe seeking refuge from the vile Chaos worshippers.
It was made of unknown materials and was marked with the symbol of a two headed eagle. Though it's crew were dead, within many scrolls and tomes spoke of a mighty God who ruled over mankind and of how his dominion swept across the stars and pushed back the dark powers including the servants of change. Given hope by this discovery the Tribe marched forth to bring the truth to other tribes and destroy those who clung to service of T'Char. After several generations the old tribe, now known as the Children of the Eagle, has swelled to a small nation and had wiped out all but a few servants of Chaos.
It was the Great Chieftain's son, Kerghan, who lead the most devout warriors against the final bastion of Change on the very day the warp storms abated. At the height of battle, the High Sorcerer tore a great rift in the sky through which legions of demons poured. At this same time the Black Templars, drawn by the visions of Astropaths that spoke of a daemonic incursion, made planet-fall. Though they fought the daemonic tide, there was no end to the creatures surging through the rift. It was only when Kerghan fought his way to the sorcerer keeping the gate open and slew him that the rifts power faded and the Daemons were left without sufficient psychic energy to sustain them.
Though Kerghan had not faced some of the more dangerous entities that day and it was certain that in time the Space Marines would have made their own way to the sorcerer, his efforts have shown promise and it is with great pride that he has been chosen to ascend to the heavens and be made into one of the God-Emperor's might Angels of Death. _________________ I'm here to kick ass and take names! Alexander Senryth is the last surviving member of the Senryth family born and raised on heavily forested unnamed planet which he now knows to be in the region of space called the Gate of Varl. let it be known from now on that this planet will be known as Poscidion Prime of the Senryth System after his honorable father.
Xander’s hunting ability were unmatched by any of his people, he would walk out into the forest by himself for days at a time with only a bolt action rifle and a survival knife to hunt what can only be described as giant War hogs, he would hide out in the tree tops waiting for one to pass by shooting it from above hitting the giant beast between the base of its skull and it’s spine taking it down with a single shot ensuring a clean death, one of these War hogs would feed his village for and month.
Xander’s world was quite literally torn apart when an Ork raiding party came tearing through his village while he was out hunting, when he came back to his village he found that no one had been spared not even the women and children and everything had been utterly destroyed. He salvaged what he could and set of in pursuit of the murderous Ork hoard. He silently tracked them through his beloved forest day and night; he was taking them out one at a time. On the third day his vengeance was complete Xander had managed to get ahead of them knowing that they were heading for a clearing in the forest, suddenly they burst into the clearing a great speed seconds later a squad of Templar jetpacks came burning over the tree tops, there was no time to get to the trees Xander was on the ground with a stampeding War hog heading his way there was only one thing he could do, Xander calmly crouched down aimed his rifle and squeezed the trigger, it was a perfect shot. the bolt ripped through the mouth of the snarling beast out the back of its neck and wounds the Ork Nob rider, the hog crashes to the floor instantly dead sending the Ork tumbling forward, meanwhile the Templars had ruthlessly and efficiently dispatched the remaining Ork’s, the Ork rider remains and is trying to crawl away into the under growth Xander walks up to it, kicks it in the torso knocking the Ork to its back, stands over him and shoots the Ork in the face.
Having witness such an act benevolent hatred of Orks the Templars knew there was a future for this individual within the Black Templars so they took him skyward to be trained as a Black Templar.
I will break this down into 2 parts, things you know about his appearance and personality from training, and things you may have heard about his origins.
He is a zealot, even more than most of the templars, when in battle or simulations his eyes almost visably burn with a fire of hatred and faith. He prefers flame weapons and close combat, when it comes to stealth and infiltration excersizes he seems already experienced. While fighting he is almost non stop quoting imperial creed or inspiring words of the Emperor, depending on the severity of the fight it can be a simple whisper or a deafening rant.
He has signs of severe burns on his right arm, although when asked he replies 'Sacrifice for the Emperor is eternal.', and has an imperial eagle burned into his neck, along with a few other words and symbols.
He never holds back, even in training, he belives that there is no value in training if there is no danger to learn from. Anyone who has sparred with him will know that he is only beaten when he is barely breathing and has yet to conceed a match, even when seemingly beaten. He will accept surrender but only if he belives that there is nothing left to test him. This has resulted in many trips to the apocathery, more often than not for both participants.
He hates aliens more than most, he once killed a ship rating when he over heard him say that Eldar were a lesser evil. And charged his whole work gang with consorting with a xenos sympathiser, they were all executed.
He never gets involved in telling stories of his or others pasts, he simply says, 'The Emperor brought us here, the path is but a blink in his plan for us.'
If anyone is troubled he seems to be very good and easing those troubles, in every case through teachings of the Emperor.
Brother Kaleb's story is not a well known one, a certain number of unconfirmed rumors are in circulation. These are some of the things you may have heard.
1.His burns are self inflicted.
2. His home world is unknown.
3. His home world was desroyed.
4. He has the knowledge of a preacher, but he never speaks of being one.
5. He was interrogated by the Black Templars for years before being allowed to join the ranks, excessive even by Templar standards.
6. His entry to the chapter was sponsored by the now deseased Reclusiarch Mordred.
Fenix already has my more detailed background, if you want to find out about the origins of Kaleb you will have to work for it in game.
