Hi everyone,

New to this site so HI everyone!!

Have recently discovered the wonders of MTG having been into other RPG table-top games such as Advanced Heroquest and Bloodbowl in what now seems like a previous life!!!

Now having little kiddy-winkles of my own, I have finally managed to coerce them into MTG stuff too.

My question is, other than the Chester Club (which is only on on a Monday night for which my step-son is unavailable) are there any other clubs in the area of Ellesmere Port / Cheshire or even North Wales, which specialise in MTG? Even at someone's house?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

brave

BTW, my real-life decks are not great as I've played online mostly but would love to improve them with the incentive of being in a club!!

Welcome!

Generally speaking, the Magic that goes on a the club is strictly casual play, Most of us are people that have played magic some time ago and just play with the cards we have, occationally picking up a pack here or there to boost up our decks.

I don't know of any other gaming clubs in the area, I think there used to be some form of wargaming club at the ellesmere port library (kids only strangely enough) but I can't find any details of it at the moment.

You might want to check the Games Workshop club in Chester. Sure it'll be specialised to Warhammer and the like, but chances are a lot of them play Magic The Gathering as it's the most popular card game there is. If there's any clubs or meetings for card games, they probably know where.

Also, I was in Chester Public Library last week, there was a notice on the notice board for card game tourniments which may interest you. It was on the notice board at the top of the stairs, but I didn't read it properly so I can't give you any details.

Thanks for the replies everyone!! (Took me a while to find the OP after it had been redirected to the correct category!!)

Yes, Ellesmere Port Library is for kids only which is annoying as it is in easy walking distance.

But, I figure that if you lot don't know of any clubs fairly much dedicated to MTG then no-one will.

Out of interest, the club on Monday nights in Chester, which games do you specialise in?

I'll blame Teflon Billy for that one! Cool If you click 'Watch this topic for replies' at the bottom left of the page, you'll get e-mailed whenever anyone adds a comment to this thread. The e-mail will have a link straight back to the post.

RPGs: D&D, Pathfinder, Warhammer Fantasy/40,000 Roleplay, The Riddle of Steel
Board Games: Puerto Rico, Power Grid, The Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne
Card Games: Magic: The Gathering (19:00-20:00 most weeks, but opportunities to play longer), Dominion, Werewolves of Miller's Hollow, Modern Art

The games above are just a selection; many more are played.
