Hi, my names Steve. I've known about the club (via internet) for a while now. But with clashes with other things on Monday nights and the fear factor of not knowing anyone I've kept putting it off.

However my long time gaming mate has just left Chester. So times come to make the take the plunge and come along and meet like-minded folks. So planning to come on Monday.

My gaming interests are wide spread. Have lots of board games, many differnet CCG and CMG, tons of Gameworkshop stuff I've never played (hate to think how much cash I burned on those three), and RPG (mainly 4th edition D&D). So basically will play virtually anything (except maybe Chess, Monopoly and Trival Pursuit).

One thing that worries me is that it sounds quite RPG oriented - which I don't mind as I like RPG - except by their nature RPG are not
inclusive to new people. It plays on my mind that when I tried to join the Games Club back in University days I was told "sorry all the games are full, but you can start your own" and left never to return.

Whats the procedure with a new person. Just turn up and see if someone will have me join them in a board game?

Like Nick who posted a couple of weeks ago I'm no spring chicken anymore. I hope I'm not a totally geriatric compared to you all. Although seldom act my age.

You're in luck, boargaming at the club has taken off recently, usually at least 4 people most weeks, We run lots of short term RPG's so if you wan't to get involved in an RPG you should have a chance within 2-3 weeks (short game starting this week I believe)

Sometimes there are a few hands of MTG between 7-8 so worth having a magic deck with you if you've got one.

Hi Steve,

As a new member I can definitely say you should just come along and join in.

I found out about the club online too and last Monday was my first visit. Had a great time! Met lots of folks who were all really friendly, had a few beers and had great fun playing a boardgame I'd never heard of before (and I don't think I was the only one!)

I'll be back again on Monday so hopefully see you there.

Chris

Excellent! See you soooon.

We've had 2 board games running a night for the past few weeks, otherwise there are some fairly open RPGs you can ask to join in on. The only time we've ever 'expected' a new member to start their own game was when about 7 new members started at once and the GM specifically wanted to.
