So, is it accepted that reviewing any strategy guide on the internet is fair game, or do we have a 'gentleman's agreement' that we play this unaided (except for rules questions?)

Is everyone a newbie at this? I played half a game of Diplomacy back in the 90s, but I can't even remember it.

I think there's a splattering of experience, but mostly newbie-ish.

In my mind it's a fun game, so I wouldn't take it too seriously if I was you!  If all the other player's think you are doing too well, they'll gang up on you, so strategy guides are of a limited use anyway.

Ultimately this one is up to the players, I'm happy either way.  I'm also neutral, and happy to answer rules questions during the game.

I have played it 2-3 times, never finished a game though.  Stretegy guides is cheating.  I do own a copy of the game though

I will happily go with whatever people decide.  I always liked playing with strategy guide though, it allows you to appreciate the game beyond the game Smile
