I have three PFS characters on the go:
- Magnus: 4th level human cleric of Iomedae (11XP). Focus on healing (channeling), diplomacy and melee combat. My main character, used at conventions.
- Lydia: 1st level human witch (0XP). Focused on healing and buffing. Currently in a play-by-post game of 'In Service to Lore', reserved for online play.
- Varam: 2nd level human gunslinger (pistolero) (5XP). Shoots things, and stealthy. This is the one I'm currently applying my GM credit to, to keep pace with your party.
I also have one other character: Oskar, a 1st level gnome sorcerer, specialising in illusions, that I'm currently playing in a non-PFS play-by-post game.
In addition, I have earned one more GM credit that can only be applied to a 1st level character. Therefore I need to create a 1st level PFS PC that may end up being used at some point, although I'm not sure when. However, I'm at a total loss on what to create! Any suggestions? _________________ Matt / paz

I always have that same problem. I've been rolling up a few 1st levels myself, though I've only registered one.
Let's see--so far you have two support casters, a ranged fighter, and an illusionist. What's missing from this mix? Probably Barbarian. Something unsubtle, unsophisticated, and brutal. I immediately thought of a Barbarian/Alchemist/Master Chymist with the Drunken Brute archetype, going Mr. Hyde with the augmented mutagen and pounding alchohol while roaring like a lunatic and throwing bombs.

Barbarian is the way I was leaning; I had in mind an Ulfen warrior, possibly part of the Lantern Lodge, keen to increase that faction's influence in the Inner Sea as a way of increasing trade across the Crown of the World between Tian Xia and Absalom, and increasing the prosperity of his home nation of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings in the process. It's a bit vague at the moment.
Having said that, I'm itching to try out the magus class at some point. _________________ Matt / paz

I was actually debating multiclassing Nyzrem to Barbarian over the break; I was really taken with Spirit Totem Rage and the Rage Prophet PRC. There are a huge plethora of options for barbarians in particular to build distinctly thematic and memorable characters with the use of different archetype/rage power combinations.
I also rolled up a magus recently, though I have not had a chance to play it. Just running the numbers shows that they have obscene damage potential in melee combat, but are likely to be "glass cannons", as they have fewer HP than a frontline fighter and, unless focusing on dexterity and Weapon Finesse, significantly less AC than a rogue. They seem to reward a high risk/high reward playstyle, which would be interesting to roleplay. I could see a Qadiran dervish sort of character, explosively flamboyant in combat but otherwise reserved, or a theatrical Sczarni performer with a flair for the dramatic and a burning desire for the spotlight.
