Ok. It's been a while since I've done any RPing and/or GMing, and most of all I'd like to run a World Of Darkness game. If possible I'd like one or two players who are familiar with the system, and preferably a stable group of about five to six players who would feel happy commiting to a regular game. I would want to run this as a proper campaign which I intend to have last for a quite a while, but I can plan the details once we have interest in the game.
I have the complete book set on PDF, (bless White Wolf for releasing them electronically), so can simply bring my laptop to the game rather than a dozen or so books and I can print off official character sheets once everyone is ready.
For character concepts, anything goes (although it will be a mortals game), but the game will be set on the east coast of USA, likely starting in either New York City or Washington DC. The year the game will be set is 1982. Please run character concepts by me so I can work them into the overarching plot. I like to run character driven games, so the more information you give me the better.
As a warning, I normally wouldn't say this, but as I'm new here and haven't even met the members yet, I feel it's probably a good idea if I mention this here. World Of Darkness is a horror based game and I don't run a tame game, the game is intended for adults, so no young players (I assume there's few if any members below 18 as you guys meet in a pub), but I also want to go a step further. This game is intended to be dark. It will be violent, contain gore, strong language, horror, religious defamement, sex (both straight and gay) and possibly disturbing imagery eg. sucide, torture, rape, demonic posession etc. If this isn't your thing, that's fine, I just want to make it clear what I intend to run. This isn't for the faint hearted.
I look forward to hearing from anyone interested in the game. By all means ask any questions at all, I'm a friendly guy and will happily answer anything.
PS: I don't mean this to come across as elitist, but this is intended to be a serious game, I don't want comedy characters, power gamers or people who plan to sit there telling fart jokes. I am however fine will people new to roleplaying who want something a little more intense than D&D.
I won't be playing as I'm currently in a game but I'm curious which World of Darkness you'll be running. There are two versions (well, sort of...) so just wondering which you run.
That link I posted isn't the third version, it's just a side project they did with Monte Cook a while back. It wasn't very popular. The second version is still going as far as I know, although they haven't published that much for it recently.
Good to hear, I'm still hoping they expand on Ghast and possibly release a new version of Demon. Still, even with all the forms WoD comes in my favourite is still Vampire. As for the others Mage I having a weird love-hate thing going on (mainly because it so easy to do badly), Werewolf I've never had really grip me at all, Promethean and Changeling I pretend never existed because they seem too fanciful for me (I know it's fantasy horror), and lastly Hunter I absolutely love yet no-one else ever wants to like it.
TornadoCreator, you do risk offending people without meeting them in your post. I think it would probably be best if you got to know some members first and let others get to know you before pitching a new game. That way you can choose your players by whether you think they would enjoy your idea, and whether you would enjoy their humour.

Oh by all means, I intend to meet the group this coming Monday, get involved in a few games, find out what makes people tick. I just thought I'd throw my idea for a game out there from the get go so people who are interested can think of a character they'd like to play and it'll give me time to discuss the concepts with people. Plus a new campaign is a great way to get to know people in my experience.
This game is one I'd ideally like to run outside of the standard Monday gaming sessions anyway. With such adult themes I wouldn't want to risk exposing players who come to the club for some lighthearted fun to a morbid horror-centric emotionally tense atmosphere. Becides, I'd probably want to play in a game or two myself on the Mondays
I like hunter - it's the game which got me into RP in the first place (not counting computer games). Although I argue that it's almost a separate game to the rest of WoD, although the fluff can be easily transferred over.
As I'm aware, there *is* a third edition, but I'm not sure if I'm referring to your 1st edition as my 2nd edition. Vampire the Masquerade is 2nd Edition, Vampire the Requiem is 3rd, if that helps. So i'm still interested as to which you're running? I'm guessing 2nd, as you referred to Hunter, which isn't out in 3rd edition yet (I believe).
On a slightly separate note, I think running a campaign outside of the club, if it is physical possible for you, is preferable to running in the club, because that gives you and your players the chance for variety as well as a good, long-term game. We play in a long-term game every Sunday night at home, and come to the club for shorter games. I know this isn't always possible, as some people have actual family lives which prevent additional evenings given over to RP, but if it is possible, I'd opt for it.
Hope your game goes well, I'd really like to meet you and your players (as I think they're all new to the club) but I don't want to interrupt the game, as since you have stated it's "serious" I don't want to disturb your atmosphere. Hope you get a chance to socialise soon!

New World of Darkness does have a Hunter line. It's called Hunter: the Vigil. Just thought you might like to know. _________________ I'm here to kick ass and take names! If that's okay with everyone...

Technically you could say that NWoD is actually 4TH edition. The old world of darkness had a habit of publishing a game, and then a couple of years later publishing a second edition of the game. Masquerade, Apocalypse, Ascension, Oblivion and The Dreaming all had two editions in this manner. When they had finished republishing their books with that second edition, they decided to shake things up so they could sell more books, publishing 'revised' editions of Masquerade, Apocalypse and Ascension. When they did this they not only changed a number of rules, but they also changed a number of background details that caused a bit of a schism amongst the fans. If you've a mind to, and given the number of changes, this is pretty much a 3rd edition of the game line. They added Hunter the reckoning and Demon the fallen to the game line at this point (although hunter may be have been published just before revised, I forget).
So, New World of Darkness is the 4th time substantial changes have been made to the game line and setting, but being an even greater overhaul than what had came before, I think the appellation of NWoD is far more user friendly than 4th edition.
