I'm someone who hasnt actually done any real roleplaying in several years, and what I have done was pretty limited (A bit of AD&D 2e and Shadowrun 3e but not a whole lot of either to be honest) but I have kept an active interest and love reading through the rulebooks for the worlds that spark off my imagination.
Lately I've had a fair bit of spare time, and I'd quite like to fill it doing something that I enjoy, hence why I'm here.
I'm actually based in Overton (a bit further down from Wrexham) so I have to ask if anyone knows of any other clubs that might be closer to me... I've had a nightmare of a time finding a group in my area and I only actually stumbled across this by chance (one of the maps on RPG.net http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.p...3c4a476ee3e35b095afa&t=372312)
If not its not a worry, just a little bit of a drive- looking through the forums you all seem like a good group of friendly people.
I do have a few questions though:
Is Deva Mail Social Club the current location? (different places say different things ie. wiki, though both locations are pretty near the train station)
Also, what's the general process of joining a game? (tabletop roleplaying that is... some of the boardgames sound fun, but what I'm really after is an rpg)
Presumably joining an existing campaign might be something of an annoyance to everyone involved, especially given that I'm going to be none too hot on the rules for a while until I get used to them, but are there many short-term or one-off games run?
Last question, I didn't see it on any of the club games list, so I have to ask, but does anyone play Munchkin? (for those that dont know, a brilliant card game)
Thanks in advance,
Jim

I'm afraid I don't know of any other clubs to help you there, though others might.
Yes Deva is our current location. There was a bit of a temporary change around september last year but that's behind us now.
As for joining games it's fairly relaxed. We have a couple of long running games but it's often short term games (usually a month or two) and we generally just se who's interested. As for joining a game late that depends entirely on the GM (whether or not it's difficult to pick and whether they feel they can fit another player in, plotwise and numbers wise). We've had players join games part way through before and we play a variety of different systems so it's not uncommon for them to have to learn the rules.
And yes sometimes munchkin does get played.
Hope this helps.

Yep thanks for the answers.
Assuming nothing else crops up I'll probably try and head round for the next monday session.

Hey there, you may/may not see me there, but most gms are very flexible and very good at working in players part way through, after all if its a new character he knows nothing anyway

Ahoy-hoy and welcome to the club forums! Like you I stumbled across this club by pure chance, so I am not really in a position to recommend others, but there definitely people with more knowledge around the place.
The best person to speak to about games normally is El Presidente Ian ('dead' on the forums). He generally does his best to make sure people have games, and that there is a good rotation of them.
Also, as a quick sidenote/plug; around mid April we are hoping to have a 2 week 'random game shuffle' where everyone is sent off playing random games. Players are deicided by drawing from a hat, play a short adventure for 2 Mondays, then everyone goes back to normal. It sounds like the kind of thing you might be interested in!
In regards to Munchkin, yes, it is played on occasion, and although I haven't played it yet, two of our members (HDimagination and Shaphron) have been bringing a new copy of 'Munchkin Quest' to the club with them recently. So we do have at least a few munchkinites here!

I'm a big munchkin fan - I usually only play it with Shaphron and HD imagination, but yus it gets played
as the gerbil stated we do have short games as well as long games. As I'm in a long term game that runs sunday nights I usually just opt in for 3/4 week games of which there are many. People tend to move around groups quite a lot so there's no 'cliques' - and even if you can't get into a game straight off you can either play board games or watch one of the rpgs that are going on to remind you how it all works. all the GMs are happy helping out people who aren't sure of the rules - which is dang lucky for me as I have no memory and generally skip from one game type to another and get them all muddled up!!!
I won't be there this coming monday but look forward to seeing you soon

We will bring Munchkin (both card game and new bord game Munchkin Quest) on Monday on the offchance that you come and there's no game on to play (we're currently board gaming it atm). We only have the 3 expansions - original, unnatural axe and clerical errors - I've been told someone has more, but I don't think I've seen them bring it to the club, so I couldn't say who (it might be Jimmy, not sure...)
I don't know of any other clubs just osuth of here (or, indeed, any other clubs...) so can't help in that respect. You have correctly pointed out that we should probably try to update the website - will see if I can get some content written up at some point over the next week or so and bung it on the wiki, and update what's on there...
Games-wise, it seems at the moment we're mostly board gaming it, theres a long-running D&D game on, a riddle of steel which I believe is just starting, and a small "vaguely comedy" game on, everyone else is loose atm. I think people are a bit hazy on staring a game now cos of the aformentioned mix-up weeks coming up, which wil leither be the 2 weeks after of before the bank holiday monday (not including the bank holiday monday). hopefully we can get the exact times sorted this monday, so we can plan properly.
Well, look forward to seeing you Monday!

Well thanks for all the comments and answers.
To be honest I'm not too fussed if I dont get to do any roleplaying the first time I show up, as long as it feels like things are headed in the right direction.
And the april random games shuffle does sound like fun (as well as a good way to ease back into roleplaying)
I guess not so much a "possible" see you soon as a definite one now, so see you on monday
