Bank holidays.

So bank holidays have been a bit mixed so far.

First one: just about everybody and their dog checked if it was open in the afternoon were told yes and then it actually wasn't (I think Landlord was ill - but zero communication).  Evil or Very Mad

Yesterday Landlord mildly peeved that no-one had turned up earlier. Not sure what was expected after BH no.1?. Confused

But never mind, I would like to judge how much of an issue this is by getting the numbers (I know not everyone uses the Forum, but it'll give me some idea).

Please vote people! (will run for 10 days). I'm factoring a yes for dedinahed.

Comments welcome.

Very Happy

I'll almost certainly have other plans (with the family) on bank holidays, so a no from me.

not quite sure what this is about really
i got there at 5:30 this bank hol monday and it was only myself and two others sipping drinks until almost 7oclock.. then suddenly the heavens opened and it started raining gamers Wink

it seems kinda the same each week in my limited experience

is the landlord miffed that the facilities that have been requested from 5pm arent actually getting used until over an hour later?

This is pretty standard for us, given the amount of time it takes most people to get home from work, eat and then get into the club.

Previously there was an idea that people would come in to the club early (like mid afternoon) on a bank holiday so that people could play some of the longer board games, play magic or just hang around. Our previous venue went through periods of being ok with this and periods of just being totally closed on a bank holiday. Last bank holiday (the first one after we moved to the Hangman) we asked if the pub would be open in the afternoon, they said that it would be, and it wasn't. This time, we didn't ask, and it was. I'm sure Eris would be proud.

So, we're taking a straw poll so we can give guidance to the landlord for future occasions.

its a big nope from me.
I actuallyarrived quite early compared to everyone else at 17:30.
apparantly only one club member had been by then and they had put staff on especially (?).
What I would say is that the hangman use this method of communication to advertise band nights etc on facebook. maybe as an idea they could have access(to this forum) so it is their descision to open based on any responses they have.

I had a chat with the Landlord on Friday and expressed our disappointment about the first bank holiday, I believe we've resolved the issues. I am confident that the next Bank Holiday (31st) will be fine. They usually open at 3.

If there's enough interest, I would be keen on some form of MtG tournament/multi-player.

Side issue: the door to the room we use will probably be locked from now on. Just ask the Landlord if you're the first to arrive.

As long as it's guaranteed then I am happy to go along.

Is there are way we could make the Monday a booster draft then?  Would be more fun and accessible to those who don't have/can't be bothered to construct decks.

The 31st may be too short notice to organise, get money and buy cards, but if people are willing to sign up quick and commit to pay about £9.50, we could do it. I suggest we ask around on Monday.

If not 30th August may be a more viable option.
