ChesterGames.co.uk is registered!

The cost is £10.71 for 2 years (the minimum registration period for a .co.uk domain).

The registration is still going through, so I can't configure anything yet; hopefully this will be active shortly.

Right,

http://wiki.chestergames.co.uk now goes to the wiki.

http://forum.chestergames.co.uk will soon go to this forum.

http://chestergames.co.uk & http://www.chestergames.co.uk don't go anywhere yet (other than a holding page).

Don't be surprised if some of the above don't work yet; DNS changes take time to propagate round.

These work fine for me.

Have we decided what:

are going to point at?

The other Simon.
Haskeer

where does www.thedazclub.co.uk go to?
paz

Right, http://chestergames.co.uk/ now points at a quick and dirty home page.

To be honest, it may be better just to tidy up the front page of the wiki and use that.
Teflon Billy

I think that page looks fine  Smile

Paz- what's the cheapest place to register a .co.uk address?

Also the website doesn't come up on my Google searches for Chester games forum/Chester games club- anything we can do about that?
Shaphron

We need to add some meta tags in the head of the page - that will make it show up under searches of search engines. Also, registerring it may help in the short term. Decent meta tags are mostly what makes a search engine look at your site.

We should also have something at www.chestergames.co.uk , as this is the default most people will type in if they have heard of us, not just at http://chestergames.co.uk.

I can help with design / coding if you need it.

I don't think you'll find anywhere much cheaper than Go Daddy; their domain management tools are pretty powerful too.

Unfortunately as it's relatively new and doesn't have much content, it doesn't rank very well. If you search for "chester games club" (with quotes) it comes up as 9th I think. I was thinking seriously about re-tooling the wiki as the main web page and pointing the main site address there, as it already has a good page rank.

Thanks
I wants a Leighwoosey.co.uk

I really think it would be of benefit if there was a consistent look and colour scheme between the website, the forum and the wiki, so people can tell we're all part of the same thing. Maybe a log would help with this?

The meta tags (description and keywords) are already filled in. Yahoo! Search has the site as top match for 'chester games club'.

http://www.chestergames.co.uk and http://chestergames.co.uk should both point to the same place. If they don't, it's a technical issue with the hosting, rather than by design.

To be honest, it's content that we're short of. Create an account on the wiki and get writing! Cool

Chestergames.co.uk is now the top match for 'chester games club', and the second match for 'chester games' - patience is a virtue! Cool

It is worth mentioning that the first match for chester games is the wiki, so it's not like someone else is beating us  Cool
paz

Yeah, I meant to mention that, but forgot.

Make the website ranked #1 for 'Stilton Xenophile Lodger'.  Currently held by zizz hotels in Peterborough.  Very Happy
