Dragons Campaign EventWho is monstering and who is playing?
Details up on the dragons muster now. I am intending to monster, I would suggest newbies do the same.

hi ian. I am still very reluctant to monster.
I know im not obliged to 'run around monster' but for a 5 day event im not sure if they will have enough 'speaking/acting' parts to keep me entertained. Im reluctant on health grounds at the moment as i still have a bad chest and am going for hip xrays on thursday so may not be able to run around too much come april depending on the outcome.
Id prefere to go in character and and stay in/around the main camp. (providing back up when nessasary).

Death Jester
|
what is the monster/player costs?
Just so I can spread the word
|
Jimmy
|
Players: book before 8th march £50, book after £55, Pay on the door (only if there are plenty of monsters) £60.
Monsters: £10 (refunded upon arrival)
|
Death Jester

Hmmmm, may be able to drum up some monsters then.
How many drivers are going and how many players will we have etc?

There generally will be no main camp to hang around in. The group last year was moving fairly constantly. tbh if your not sure about fitness then dont do this one, with the likely weather it is easiest the hardest event to play all year.

Trying to find that out now, so far me and Josh are going and driving. I think we are mostly monstering. I am strictly limiting it to 2 in my car, me and one other. Any more and the car is overloaded wth the amount of kit that we tend to take.
Ian

Jimmy

Ditto with the two people thing, I am in two minds to play or monster still.
Weather will surely be harsh, especially after what we have witnessed recently.
|
Death Jester
|
do we need to take anywhere near as much stuff if we are not playing?
And I have myself and one other definate, going to book it asap
|
Jimmy
|
need to take as much kit as you have due to not knowing which monster role you will get. It needs to be fairly generic stuff, non specific to your character.
In other words, leave tabbards behind and shields also if a cover cannot be found/made for them in time. Take everything else.
Oh and lots of layers if it is anything like last year
|
dead
|
If we get an idea of numbers it may be worth considering a van. I would be happy to drive a swb tranni if needed. That will take 3 plus all the kit and we could get more in the cars.
We need as many pole arms as we can manage. So far we have one which belongs to Nurse Mat.
Maybe take one shield, and we play our characters on the first night so tabbards but no armour will be required.

well you and geoff are the bosses. would it be a bit odd if there was like only one phede there?

Whoever has the eldest character at an event is the boss, You can play if you want to.
Just to warn you last year we had 5 days of fairly constant walking around in the cold and rain and snow and hail and sun and snow and rain and..... If your health isnt up to it dont do it. This is the hardest larp event you will ever do. As a player you wont get a chance to rest and we are too far from Chester to go home.
Ian

I think your money would be better spent on getting a 1/4 staff ready for future events that will be more enjoyable for you

Hi Ian,
The muster guys got back to me, they recommended monstering instead as i get plenty of rest and they need people for speaking so count me and gav in to monster!
Also there is a gentleman of my aquaintance who is a massive larp fan and has begged me all night at lassties to let him come monstering with us.
|

|
We need commitments off people to either pplay or monster so we can start making arrangements. We need to know asap if we are taking a van or not.
I am planning on monstering. Who else?
Ian

me and gav will monster.

we are hoping to monster - will check matt can get the time off work and confirm
|

|
Death Jester

got me and kay from down here at least. As I said earlier, probably just us i'd wager
|
Haskeer
|
the daz will be monstering.
theres a chance i may be able to get car but as i share with my mum there may be some obsticles. also my car is CENSORED and therefore if we have other drivers i would adv using them. people who i have give lifts to from the club will be able to tell how much my car struggles with three people in it let alone with kit.
hope that helps.

Mike said he doesnt think we will be able to borrow it. Im hunting online for a van rental now.
May i suggest us all chucking in the money for it as its a bit unfair to make one person pick up the tab.

If we do a van it will be all contribute, possibly not car drivers though as they are already paying through their cars.

Its got to take the kit for 8-12 people. We need a short wheel base transit of some kind.
Ian

well excuse me for trying
we are trying to get a car for gav to drive aswell. Taz is only tiny so we can stick him in the back with us.

Youll be suprised how much he/she takes up. Its a 3-4 hour journey they need to be comfy.
If you can try for trannie vans and the like with those dates and see what you get. It shouldnt be that much more expensive. Short wheelbase regular roof would be fine I imagine. We can then get 2 in the van and 4 in each car.
Dont worry about car for Gav, Geoff can drive the van and we have 3 cars going potentially that means we can take 14 bodies. and kit.

Guess with petrol add up the van and cars and everyone pays the same. Otherwise the up to 3 people travelling in the van don't pay anywhere near as much. N I think Its best to have committed bookings before hiring a van. Dont want to end up with only 4 people going or something daft

Well need commited bookings and cash for the van and bokings within a few weeks I expect. Talk about it affter the training day, well have a debrief in the town crier or somewhere.

Matt and I are definately monstering - time is booked off work and everything. Where do we download forms, and when do we get told who our player is?
Also, there is no way we can afford to share a van, we will do our own transport. Sorry guys, but we simply cannot afford it at all. Only going cos monstering is free - it's petrol and food cost only, which we can afford, but not anything on top.
Sorry.

I have spoken to a couple of other players and it seems to be that people want us there IC, there is a healing and shield lack apparantly. (may be what our troll friend wants too)
I would go IC but I may have a couple of new people to look after. but i'd guess that someone else could watch over them

IC is a matter of money for us two unfortunatly. we can only afford to monster. But will be IC on thursday.

I have noticed the lack of heavies. I could be tempted to switch to playing, we would need monsters to cover. Aaron are you willing to play? That will give us 2 shields.
They'll be fine, we can give them too... Daz

Brilliant news! Glad i found you all.
I am trying to get my head around how many healers we have for the Easter event. As you boys tend to lead the way on healing i thought it would be good to find out from you first. I also have plans to set up some sort of mobile healing station, a small one that wont attract too much attention. Are any of you boys gonna be carrying shields?
I also want to know how you guys like to work and make sure that is taken into account when i am planning the army tactics. Let me know your grand plans! I also have got my grubby little fingers in the armory. what Armour, weapons & potions do you need. I have got a cold sword, fire sword, 2 unshatterable shields, Loads of Potions (I make these myself) and 3 suits of master crafted medium Armour.
If any of you boy are on IM please add me. Would be good to chat:
Osman_troll@hotmail.com
I would like to sit with you all on the Thursday. I think you boys are a wicked group and want to make the most of what you do best.
Cheers

So far there is on one of us playing and he is full healer, no shield. I am considering switching to playing if I can get a monster as we are looking a little squishy, but I cant find my character card, if I can I will try and play. Im talking to the others about it as well.
The plan was to monster one, play one originally I might just monster the next few events. Even if I play we will still only have 1 shield and 1 healer I think, everyone else is monstering and skint.
Kit wise I think both of us have armour and a shield would be wasted on me(Shield mastery). A weapon would be useful.
If we can put a good showing in we generally like to work as the reserve, we can put healing or a shield wall where we are weakest, or we can generally turn a flank quite well. It gives us the most flexability and seemed to work very well last year with 3 shields. however if the shield wall is as weak as I am expecting, for the Dragons and for us then I would expect we will be needed to boost the shield wall itself.
Good to hear from you, Im on msn if that helps, borgoth@blueyonder.co.uk.

sounds a little harsh there.
Matt dropped out for good reason and I may have to as well. I am taking over a business soon and am trying to find a place to live.
I will post on here and let the people who need to know the score asap by phone.
It is not a case of 'bothering' you know how much i want to go, how I have been wanting to get some practice in and such since the last event. So please don't treat me unfairly here. I have alot on my plate and i'm not the first or the last to have issues last minute so feel free to be understanding.

i'm going to guess that Ian was in a bad mood yesterday? Combined with trying to organise for us all, and it being 2 days before said event, probably put him on edge. We're still willing to take you down, I'm guessing meeting at the station in chester? Will double check check-in times and estimated journey times (I like getting places early/on time) and post back here my best guess of when we should set off from the station. I'll PM you with my mobile number, and I'll check the boards tonight and tomorrow morning. If you don't have tiome to say on the boards give me a text saying if you're coming or not - we'll be there for you if you need us.

OK, after checking the booking form, and looking online, the only place which might be able to tell me if there is an official "please do not arrive before this time" thing is the forums, and since I don't have an LT character I can't join up (as I understand it, your user name has to be your character name). So, I'm going to go under the idea that the earlier we get there, the easier it will be to pitch the tent, and to get a good spot for pitching the tent. According to google, it should be about 2hr 30mins drive, looks easy (straight down the M6, then M5, then M42, then M40, off at juntion 12, straight south to camp), so setting off at 10:30 ish from station sound ok? we'll be there between 1:30 and 2, maybe a bit later depending on stopping and traffic. I can't even find anything saying when time in is, but I'm guessing the evening? Someone please correct me if any of these assumptions are incorrect.

thanks guys. Google maps - I'm going from chester station to the piost code - there seems to be no map on the scout camp website (it seems rather sh!t to be honest) so I'm hoping this is the right place/time. We used the post code to get to the last one tho, and it turned out to take us to completely the wrong place, so I'm not sure this wont either. I'm hoping tho, cos it is right next to Horley, which bodes well for Horley Scout camp.
As I'm paranoid about getting lost (I HATE being lost) I'm going to bring the map & directions from google maps tonight, to make sure I'm going to the right place...
