Game of ThronesHi,
As I said in my introduction me and a couple of friends are gonna come down and see whats going on at the club. We are gonna bring copies of Game of thrones and Arkham Horror boardgames. Both of which we highly recommend if you havent played them already. I personally want to play a 6 player game of Game of Thrones so if anybody wants to do this let us know in this thread.
If your not sure what the game is about, its based on GRR Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice saga, a brilliant set of medieval/fantasy books. There is plenty of diplomacy and strategic warfare involving knights, footman and fleets. This game should appeal to just about anybody who plays boardgames with any complexity.

Do you have a link to the rulebook or anything like that? I prefer to get a grasp of the game in my mind before I get to the table

The following link has some images of the board and pieces and also has some information on the game.

This next link is the rulebook i think. i say this because I am in work and am unable to see it myself due to firewall restrictions.

Oh also, there are two addon sets called 'a clash of kings' and 'Storm of Swords'. We have both of these as well. Any newcomers are better off playing just the initial game to start with.

Ah, I was just about to ask how you would have a six player game, since the main game only seems to support 5 players
The game seems easy enough to get the hang of, and the support system is simpler than Diplomacy's

Thinking about it, the additional stuff from the other boxed sets is not really that complicated so we could easily use that as well and make it more interesting. Do you think there would another 2 after yourself who would join us for such a game?

Not the best person to ask really, I have only one session of experience at the club, and quite a few of the regulars will be LARPing AFAIK. From the forums, it's seems that by about 7:30ish there may well be enough for a game.
I have no idea I am afraid how many will be there earlier in the day (though it seems like I will be there myself for the entire day, though playing WOTR for a good portion of it).

Oh right, so people actually LARP through the monday night session? I didn't realise, I thought that would be more of a daytime, running around fields type of thing.

It's just this wekend. Because it's a long one - they'll have been playing over several days at a big Easter event and if they're knackered Monday they're unlikely to make it to the club in the evening. And it's quite a percentage of the club.
Of course, some of them might not be too knackered to come, but they're too busy running around hitting things to come to a computer to confirm that...

Sounds like they are gonna have had a lot of fun although its a pity they aren't all gonna be there to welcome us noobies with carpets of palm leaves and cheers of joy.
