Hi. I'm new to the forum and will hopefully be able to meet you all in the upcomming weeks. My name is Bill, I live in Birkenhead, I'm 24 and I'm a Forensic Biochemist and Student currently doing my second degree. I have been looking for a gaming group for over a year now since I moved from Bangor in North Wales. I'll tell you a little about myself.
I've been a gamer since I was 6 years old, first video games but I then moved on to collectable card games and choose your own adventure books. I started playing Warhammer Fantasy Battle when I was 14 and quickly grew attached to the hobby. I began roleplaying two years later when I played my first game of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (1st Edition).
Since then I've played almost any system you can imagine. My favourite roleplay systems are World Of Darkness (2nd Edition), Shadowrun (3rd Edition), Dungeons and Dragons (both 3.5 and 4th Edition) and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (2nd Edition). I've been GMing for 7 years and have run long campaigns that have lasted over multiple years. I'm not much of a wargamer any more and have sold on my figures as I needed the money, but if I had enough chances to play I'd love to start playing again. I used to play Warhammer Fantasy, Warmaster, Mordheim, Warmachine and Pirates!, and have played Magic The Gathering and Legend of Five Rings card games for years also.
I'd very much like the chance to play an active role in your society. I was a member of BWRPS (Bangor Wargaming and RolePlaying Society) for 6 years, and was the 'communications officer' in charge of keeping the website up to date and producing the club magazine for a short time during my last year in the society. The society had over 70 members at it's height and is still going strong without me now. I prefer to GM games as opposed to playing in them, although I enjoy to RP as much as any avid roleplayer, and used to host multiple games per week in my house however I currently lack to means to do that now.
All in all, it'll be nice to get to know some people, get back into the hobby and get my hands of a d20 or two, after almost 10 months of nothing but video games, I'm really starting to miss the pen and paper element of our hobby.

Wow Bill, We don't usually get a full CV! It'll be great to have you join us. Most people get to the club between 7 and 8, though many show up earlier so there will always be someone to chat with. Take a look at whats going on this week and if there are any games running you like the sound of ask if you can join in, otherwise we can see who has a free space for you on the day.
Everyone is lovely so just wander up the stairs and start chatting!
See you there

Yeah, I know it sounds like I'm applying for a job with you guys reading it back.
I was wondering actually. Do you guys game only on Mondays or would you be open to doing home-hosted games. It's basically what we did at my old society. We'd meet up on Sunday, play mainly board games, Warhammer and 40k. (Arkham Horror, Battlestar Galactica, Diplomacy and The Great Brain Robbery where club favourites, all good games in my opinion), but while there, the GM's and players would chat and find out who was running games mid-week. Once they had a full group, who-ever had the biggest house would act as host (sometimes we got pizza, and sometimes the rest of the group offered to pay for the host, as a thank you), and we roleplayed in their living room/dorm room. It made for much more atmospheric games for things like Vampire The Requiem or FATE where it's supposed to be a horror game. We could set up candles, use atmospheric music if we wanted, that kind of thing but more importantly, it was just the gaming group, no interuptions from other groups playing their games, no distractions... you get the idea.
So yeah, if people are up for that, it's by far how I prefer to GM and game, I'd need someone able to act as host though as my house isn't quiet enough (5 people living here), that is until I can get somewhere on my own in the new academic year should people go for it. But we can organise games as they come I suppose.
Other than that, I'll have a little look around, see what's happening over the next week and see if I can find a game I'd be into. Thanks for the warm welcomes.

THAT IS FORBIDDEN!!!!!!!! Those who join the Klub must only play games in the Klub!!! ON PAIN OF DEATH!!!!!!
(ahem...) All humor aside, as long as you can recurit players, anything goes. Hope that we will see you at the Klub... Sorry, club soon so you can experience my unique brand of humour in person.
Welcome!
Matt (We have a lot of these, you'll get used to it).

Hello and welcome aboard. Hope to see you at the club soon.
Bear in mind that lots of (maybe even most) club members aren't on these forums regularly, so you'll probably get a better response in person to any queries about running games, forming groups outside Monday nights, etc.

Yeah, I think I remember you from BWRPS. Pretty sure I recognise the name TornadoCreator, didn't I join a forum site you ran for a while?
