Hey!Hello!
I'm Jordan, 23, and I'm originally from around Chester, over near Frodsham, though I've been away for a while with university and the like. Now, however, I find myself back in Chester every so often, entirely dependant on my crazy timetable at the College of Law, and I was looking for a possible gaming group for when I'm up here!
I'm a veteran GM, having been Keele University's RP Society president for two and a bit years, and I also run a Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader (Warhammer 40k RPG) game back down here at Keele (where I live with my fiancee), with that group being one of the Fantasy Flight Games RPG playtest groups for DH/RT (having my name in some of my favourite RPG books is just awesome! ). I'm also one of the admins on Dark Reign 40k, if any of you have been over there before
But yea, I was wondering how active Chester Games Club was, and if there might be space for another RPG player/GM when I start back at the College of Law at the beginning of September.
Cheers all!

We're pretty active at the moment .
To find out what's happening on a week to week basis you probably need the post on/read:

and the 'What's happening next week' thread in Club business.
Look forward to meeting you in September .

Hi!
Feel free to come along; we're at our highest numbers ever at the moment (30-35ish*), but I'm sure we can squeeze one more player in! I'm not sure exactly what'll be running at the start of September, but I know there's been some Warhammer 40K RPGs run in the past. I'm hopeful that there'll be something that takes your fancy though.
Look forward to seeing you there!
(By the way, a 23 year old describing themself as a veteran makes me feel really old )
* Unless someone wants to correct me...

Well, playing/GMing RPGs 3-4 times a week all the way through university teaches you a lot about gaming
It sounds like a pretty awesome group of gamers, so I'll try to swing by on my first day back to law college, on the 6th Sept, unless I have the time to come sooner
As for RPGs, I'm honestly up for pretty much anything. I've got dozens of RPG systems on my shelf/in my cupboard, so I'm willing to try out anything at least once

Sounds about right.

Of course when we say your welcome to come along, this doesn't actually mean you be able to fit in the room itself . (Please note this is an exaggeration for comic effect, its not that bad. Yet).

God knows what that makes me then .

Hey Jordan!
The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned, as long as we have enough tables. Look forward to seeing you in September

Cheers Tess!
So, what sort of RPGs usually go down well at the club? Any preferences amongst everyone?

Welcome!
Pretty much everything and anything. If I was pushed I'd say D&D, nWoD and Call of Cthulhu are probably the most popular games at this current moment, which shows that we are pretty representative of the hobby as a whole. Pretty much anything goes however.

Sounds good! I am generally into nWoD, CoC, Unknown Armies, all that sort of thing. If it's dark, creepy, and morally grey, I'm there

I've also just got my timetable, and found that I should be at law college every Monday and Tuesday, so, with a little luck, I might end up being a regular at the club
Might have to think of an RPG to run, or ask you guys when I first arrive what you'd fancy playing.

Paz and Teflon, you *are* old. As for veteran status, I think you've both (and probably many others) surpassed that and become "old men of the woods".
Be good to see more new people, Jordan. And it's always good to have more GMs. Most of us who do GM also play, so the more people we have who might GM, the more everyone can play.
We do have a thread about who's currently available for games in the Club business board. As we have a random shuffle and then a MtG tournament planned for the rest of August, the people on it will pretty much be the same come September.

How rude! Going off at a tangent here, but according to this poll I'm in the youngest 27% of role-players, and I didn't feel particularly old at Conception last year. I think we just have a young group of people.

I'm in the majority .

Don't I know it .
Young people with their Riddle of Whatsit, and their Mage/Vampire/Scary thing: The more editions than anyone can keep trackofering .
Personally I can't understand why people can't be happy with a good game of Tunnels & Trolls .

I'm in the youngest 22%. I'm not exactly *much* younger than you.... I just love to tease you!

I'm in a young 0%, I don't exist statisticallly

After a bit of a search, the best RPGer age poll I found was this EN World one from August 2007 (associated thread). It gives an average of 34.
|
Milly
|
And given I'm only 23, I'm down in the youngest 6% or so Still, if there's someone who doesn't exist statistically, I feel either really old or really young, depending on which side of the scale that 0% is on
But yea, I'll try to have a think about what games I might be able to run and have a few campaign ideas for when I start coming in September

This sounds like a new way to tell your age to other roleplayers. Now it becomes impolite to guess a ladies RAP (Roleplaying Age Percentile).
Hi, I'm Chris btw, welcome to the club! (well, the forum bit anyway)

Im now curious, i wonder if ive seen you around the KPA over this last year...hmm?

Were you in KURA (Keele University Roleplay Society)?
|
rafe

Not really, am now, and i do hang around with those that are.

Milly

In that case, I'll probably end up seeing you if you are there this year
