Hi, you guys sound interesting!

Hi there,

I came across this site while looking for the possibility to pick up some form of roleplaying again.
I used to play a lot of AD&D as a teenager and well into my mid-twenties, but work, family, serial relocation etc. have meant a break of almost 8 years. As I am more settled now with a bit more time on my hands, I would love to pick it up again, and you lot sound like a welcoming bunch.
I don't live very locally, and this would mean a bit of a drive for me so it would be great if someone could let me kow what the policy is with newcomers (especially ones that may need reminding of pretty much everything).
Is it easy to join games in progress? Campaigns can sometimes take a long time and drop-in characters can be disruptive. Are there any DnD games going at the moment, or starting soon? Anything else you think I should know? And so on and so forth Smile
Oh, and another thing: Would my being 36 mean the average age of the club was raised by a decade or so? Would people feel inclined to offer me their seats so I can rest my weary, time-ravaged bones? Or are there others of a similar age around?
Many questions, so thanks to whoever takes the time to answer them!
Tess

hahaa!!! No, firstly your age will put you slightly above average, but not by much. Some members are still in college, some about to be bought a zimmer frame for thier birthday, but I think most of us are late twenties. That said I'm crap at guessing ages.

If you wanna start coming along next monday it would be good (assuming everything is ok at the Diva) as its gonna be a big mix-up night with a handful of short RPGs starting all at once from a 'pick a name out of a hat' basis. These games are supposed to last 2-3 weeks then we'll be back to normal, though there may still be some preferring to come along and play board games too.

For new-comers it is free, but if you plan to become a regular it is one shiny pound each monday to be put safely into the hands of the Treasurer Shelly, or Vice Treasurer Josh, depending on who is about.

Most of the monday night campaigns are relatively short (though not all) and they don't all run in sync so usually even if there's not a game so you play board games one night usually there will be a new campaign starting the following monday.

36 is pretty normal for the club, youll be one of the older ones but not the oldest(I think) and you wouldnt stand out.

Joining games is pretty easy, it depends on the week you turn up and what is running/available.  There is often a board game available f you dont get a game.  We activly encourage new players.

Next week is a perfect time time to start as we are doing a random game selection thingy which means you will get in a game.

That rather dubious honour probably belongs to me.

Next week is probably a very good choice for a first week.

There’s one long running D&D campaign and other games spring up from time-to-time (I think there is another at the moment).

Your not called Matt are you? I’m afraid there is now an official moratorium on Matt’s, so if you are, you’ll have to change your name.

Thank you all for your replies.

Next Monday does indeed sound like an ideal time to come over for the first time, so I will be meeting you all shortly! I am already busy polishing my pound coin for extra shininess Smile

No, I'm not called Matt, although, for the right price you can call me anything you want!!! Smile

Does anyone happen to know if the venue problems have been resolved?

Cool see you next week.

The venue problems where due to them waiting for the police to attend so should be sorted.  I will check a little closer to the time to make sure there are no more problems.

Venue problems are sorted, have spoken to the manager and it is back on

Excellent!!!

See you all on Monday, then.

Is there someone specific I should introduce myself to when I get there?
