Kit for next eventRight we need to get a little bit organized as we need to start making kit.
Each person will need to make/acquire the following
Cloak/poncho
Poncho is cheaper, cloak looks better
Body Armour
£40ish for the body, this will take the longest to make . People need to start now
Arm Armour
Not sure yet, have a few ideas but we will require leather
Leg Armour
see arm Armour
Helmets/head Armour
possibly the most expensive item, looking at the latest rules we will all need them
Boots
Decent black or brown walking boots. No visible labels
Pants
Combats will do at a pinch, not jeans
shirts
Preferably white shirts, long sleeved to go under Armour. It will get ruined
shield
We have 4, first come first served
Shield cover
one for each shield, you wont be able to use the shield without
weapon
We have a couple of spares, again first some first served.
Brain
optional, but useful.
Belts/pouches
Depends what leather we have left we should be able to make some.
camping kit
the usual stuff, the bigger the tent the better.
We have some assorted kit to borrow, this will be first come first served and is generally cast offs so is not as good as the newer stuff.
We also need to think about a group tent to sit in during the day to get out of the rain and recover from hangovers, standards etc for the tent, and transport. How are we goin to get all of this stuff to the event. We have 1 car going so far.
So what have I forgot?

Water Bottle
If you dont get one before the event we will bully you into getting one at the event. It will be hot and you will be running around in armour and drinking for 18 hours a day.
Energy Snacks
We dont want anyone collapsing
Card holder
You will need somewhere to carry your healing cards etc

There is (was?) a tanners in Rochdale that does (did?) a full cow hide (veg tanned) for around £40, this stuff was heavy enough to make soles for boots out of. I think I can still remember how to get there.
call me on 07783937112 if you need any more info (I also may be able to get hold of a pattern for late medievil plate that should lend itself to thick hide armour).

Nice to hear from you.
Lorien Trust is not any particular period, lots of different bits of kit there. We are sort of mid medieval kit, brigadine and chainmaile with bits of leather, basically anything we know or can figure out how to make and that looks cool.
www.lorientrust.co.uk Though the website is very poor. The faction we are members of is www.dragonsfaction.org. Vaguely celtic with lots of bits mixed in. We are religious crusaders types with a bit of celtic and lots of beer.
I would be intrested in any reasonably local tanners as we need some leather soon and I would rather not have to go down south to the re-inactment faire again if I can avoid it.
We usually meet up at my flat for kit making, though I am trying to get people to do their kit at their own places as I am fed up with my flat bein binned. The idea is we set people off explain what they need to do and let them get on with it.
I know of a couple of re-enactors based in chester and crewe if you want me to put them on to you if that is more up your street. They are a little later then you have done before though.

The larp sounds sound to me, I happen to have a couple of bin liners of leather in my loft, its lightweight stuff, not up to armour making but it'll look good for other uses. I'll see if I can find a map route to the place (Rochdale isn't close but its the only tanners I know of in the north west that sells direct to the public)
