Are they normal machines with leather needles or actual leather sewing machines? It makes a big difference.
I would be up for kit making, I need to adjust some chain and do some repairs to kit, mostly leather work. Probably cant do the metal work I need to do at yours as its a bit loud and dirty

How easy is it to make your own chainmail?
I have bought 1000 X 6mm Stainless steel rings to have a play with to see how easy it would be to do the 4 in 1 pattern, having someone show me who has done this before would be a great help.
i have also looked at sourcing wire and making my own rings first but no suppliers seem readily available in the UK. Any ideas on this would also be appreciated.
Thanks.

Its not hard, but is very time consuming, Im modifing an already made set myself.
I have not made the links but it looks easy enougth, see if you can get garden wire from screwfix, that may work. Youll need to strip the galvinisation off which is dangerous so take advice on that.
Butted mail is heavy and not great, if you are after chain try the riveted stuff froom ebay. Its more historic and lighter and pretty cheap nowadays.

the rings i have got are specifically for making chainmail. I have seen reels of wire available to purchase from America but struggle to find a source in the UK.
Which LARP System are you currently part of and what sort of Characters are you after?
I was thinking along the lines of character build as follows:
Chainmail shirt and Coif
legs and arms Leather
Shield
Sword
Ranger 1 & 2 for gathering skills.
then use resources for beneficial group stuff or sell to others.
Would this be of any use to your LARP group when i can get to meets.
I used to LARP with the Labotomy goblins group with the Vipers.
