General rules (amalgamated from previous drafts):

There will be 3 rounds, randomly match-ups each round players will choose randomly from ten land cards (five pairs). The people drawing matching lands will play each other.

A match between two players will consist of three duels. A point will be awarded for each victory. So if someone wins all three duels they will score three points. Or in the case of a 2-1: ‘victor’ - 2 points ‘loser’ - 1.

The four people with the highest point totals will then enter a ‘knockout’ .



Cost: £8.45

I think we'll try having prizes this time:

3 Boosters for 1st, 2 Boosters for 2nd, 1 Booster for 3rd.

Max Participants 10 (its the right numbers for the random land thing and fits well into the Booster box (10*3 + prizes) thing.

Start time (judging from last time) would probably be around 4.00 for a 4.30 start.


I've no idea whether this is going to fill up quickly or not, if it does it'll probably need to be 'first post (or confirm interest in person), first served' (or in the draft, you know what I mean    ).


Please note: sadly because cash is invloved, I do need to know who you are. So please only post if you consider yourself to be a 'club regular' (within reason ).

Awesome I am in for this, are we trying to do it before normal games? Hence the early start?

Prizes are good gives something to aim for. It's very cheap though, 3 boosters are normally more like £11.50!

Are the other games suspended for the bank holiday?

So your doing a top 4 play off? Theres different draft formats out there. The most common is 3 rounds and thats it. But I have done sealed events where there is a play off at the end. Normally thats just for bigger events 40+ people.

Looking forward to this, played a draft last night and was cheated out of my 1st place but managed to get into 2nd. Woop for promo cards!

Just a reminder of the rules we established last time for this eventuality:


As we currently have nine people, each round players will choose randomly from nine land cards (four pairs and one ‘lone land’). The people drawing matching lands will play each other and the person drawing the ‘lone land’ will get a ‘by’.

A player may not get a ‘by’ twice. If this happens all players will re-draw.

There will therefore be three people getting a ‘by’.

So to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to play the same number of matches after the three random rounds there will be a 'clean-up' round. Two of the people getting a 'by' will play each other and the other will play someone chosen at random, who will not get points from the match but will be ‘honour bound’ to try and win.

If for some reason we end up with even numbers the above will be moot.


As before these rules have been agreed by mutual consent and may be changed for next time if it is felt they need altering    .
