New Sci-Fi game

Silhoette system, classic flying around in space shooting stuff and trading. Basic premise is below. Anyone facny it?

Quote:
The lecture theatre was full of fit looking men and women. Mixed uniforms from dozens of countries and civilians mixed in. Most of the military uniforms were either high ranking officers or entirely devoid of patches, the men wearing them had the hard eyed look of experienced soldiers. A selection of suits and generals sat on the stage waiting for the latecomers to arrive. The flights to the dessert air strip in the Nevada desert were running a little late.

Eventually a man stands up on the stage. “Ladies and Gentlemen can I have your attention please.” The theatre quickly settled down. “You will be wondering what you are doing here. Over the last few years we have been negotiating with an extra terrestrial race called the Slee. Before you ask, they are the little grey men you see on the television. They have been visiting us for many years. They claim they are warning us of an extraterrestrial threat.”

“Their warning is that The Confederation is planning on expanding in this direction. Apparently The Confederation expand by absorbing the planets in their path rather then the classical alien invasion. The Slee allege that there are two methods for them to absorb us. The first is they will offer us technology, probably a cure for cancer or similar, in return for a base. They will then place us under a ‘protected planet status’ which they say will prevent us from getting any further technology or funds. We will then apparently be used for cheap labour for the ‘corporations’ that actually run the confederations political system until the planets economy collapses. They will then move in to ‘stabilise’ the economy by installing their own political systems.”

“The second is more direct, they will wait until there is a sufficiently large war and will send in a ‘peace keeping’ force to prevent the ‘atrocities’ They will of course have to remove the politicians that started this war and replace them with ‘interim’ political systems. Which will end up being permanent.”

“The Slee claim that this is the confederations way of justifying the expansion to its population. The Confederation apparently occupies hundreds of planets, and is ruled from twelve planets at the centre of the Confederation. It has a similar political system to the USA but it is much more dominated by the corporations, no politician gets into power without being in the pocket of these corporations.”

“The Slee are willing to help us as they want us, and several other planets as a buffer between them and the Confederation. Before we let them help us we want to know if they are telling the truth. That is going to be your job. We have negotiated six small jump drives, AI’s to help run the ships and a dozen translators. You are going to form the crews that will find out if what they say is true. One will travel to the Slee homeworld, One will remain here for emergencies, two will to the other planets that the Slee are negotiating with and two will travel to the Confederations worlds. Those two will attempt to find out if the Slee are telling us the truth about the Confederation and will attempt to gain weapons and knowledge to help us. You are all about to undertake a crash course in running those ships. Those that pass selection will crew the ships, those that fail will run the moon base we are going to build. Good luck ladies and gentlemen.”

Sounds interesting. If it starts when I'm in between playing and running other games, I might get in on this. I wouldn't mind trying out the Silhoette system either.
