New Venue - Table Layouts and opinionsI had pictured that two larger games could fit under the padded archway around tables put into a square - this week one game was stretched out in a line so it looked as if only 1 game could fit.
Looking at the number of players in games currently running I suggest the Werefish's game who seemed to be 9/10 people were squashed around a space suitable for 6 should be under the arch along with ALV's game, each around a square of tables.
In the 'first room' we had one game with 7 people sitting comfortably around, but I think with a little table shifting we could fit two games of this size in the area.
The 'last room' (the one with the little wall in the middle) can fit another square 6 player game, but the space is not really suitable for more players than this.
There are then 4 circular tables in the alcoves, space for a small game in front of the bar, room for 2 small games the other side of the little wall, and space for one of the grey tables against the wall in the 'corridor' from the first room to the bar.
It would be good for GMs to all 'declare' the number of players they have and whether they need a large table space for big maps so we can allocate tables logically. With the number of big games that have sprung up all at once it may be a little fiddly. Looking at the set up on Monday it may unfortunately be worth keeping in mind table room when planning scenarios as the space is more suitable for a large number of small games than a small number of large games.
If anyone else has pictured a more efficient use of the space suggestions are all good!

We need to keep in mind that Teflon's game wasn't running this week. Not sure where I'd put things but I reckon another game can fit into the alcoves or two if my group moves to the end room with the wall, asuming werefish does need to move (I found I had to keep my GMing stuff on the next table, even though we all were able to sit around 1, this is only a problem if somebody needs that table).
But as we have more larger games than small games I'm not sure that's much help right now.

Werefish was 7 I think with another one or two joining up with us I believe, not sure about maps etc though as it's my first time with Dark Heresy and we are only in character creation at the mo

5 players + me reasonable table space for us+tiles+minis.
I'll be there early this Monday, we probably need to spend some time considering table layout, before people start gaming and things get 'set in stone' for the evening.

Board games tend to need larger tables, although often for fewer players. It would be great if we could setup one or two of the club's tables, as these are much more suitable than the circular tables for many games.

Werefish's game had 5 players and the GM, with a sixth player not able to get to the club until about 9, so we'll need space for 7 people.
We were planning on seeing what it would be like if we moved the tables where we were sitting into a line, rather than the square they were in, so we could sit down both sides.

I did the same thing with similar sized tables at the Railway and it worked quite well compared to being in a square. Worth trying.

I reckon the table you guys were playing 'Nordic fantasy'type rpg would be good for me (as it isn't running this week). I have maps to lay out usually but oddly enough just a4 maps this monday. At them moment I have no confirmed players but 3 probables, two or three of which were playing on that table last week. (I have another 2-3 spaces I'm happy to fill (im running a 7player convention game so I can accommodate 7 if needs be)).
So my preference is
1)the table in front of the outside window by the steps
2)One of the booths in the corridor to the right of the bar.

As people have probably noticed, my game is starting earlier than most (starting the actual game around 7pm). Until now, we've been based in the first room. Unfortunately this is causing problems, as we get in the way of people coming in and out of the club and people eating their dinner, take up space normally used by people to show what board games they've brought, and we have to try and talk over the general hubbub of the room when people are socialising.
Is there any scope to move this game elsewhere, either by swapping with another game that starts later, or in terms of using the space in the other rooms better? I will usually have a battle map, so moving to a smaller table size isn't really an option (we currently use two of the squarish tables in the first room).
Any ideas?

I believe Werefishes game is finishing next session you could try that back area for space. It's quiet and out of the way. I'm not sure about space though. If you can manage to fit I think it'd be ideal for your early starts.

That sounds ideal, although I haven't had a good look at that area recently, but obviously I'll wait for the GM to confirm.

I am in werefishes game and I don't actually think its finishing, we are just coming to the end of this mission and then those of us playing are deciding who is going to carry on with the game.
Saying that though on the otherside of the wall (in the same room) there is normally a board game but you could setup one of the clubs tables like we use on our side and thought would probably do you... You'd just have to ask the board gamers to relocate!

This Monday (28th) is the end of the current mission in Werefish's game, then we will be taking a break until probably the new year to give Werefish some time off from GMing.
The space may be a bit of an issue - it's quite a tight fit for us, and we don't have a battlemat most of the time.

Looks like we are going to have to change tables around. If people have phone numbers for GM's can you text them and ask them to look at this thread.
Can we just do a quick list of the games that and their requirements, now in order of table size requirements
Teflon Billy - D&D with battlemat & early birds magic
Paz - D&D with battlemat, starts early
Werefish - 7 players
Dave - Boardgames - requires reasonable table
Tornado Creator - 4-8 players - small table okay for now, may need to upgrade
Gerbil - 5 players, would like bigger
ALV - 4-5 players
Me - 3-4 players small table
Any other games? That's 3 big games, 2 medium game, 2 smaller games and at least 1 board game
Space wise we have:
Big table 1 by the bar
Big table 2 by the bar
Big table in the first room - for late starters
Small table in the first room - for late starters
table 1 in the arches - only 2 out of the 4 can be used due to noise issues
table 2 in the arches - only 2 out of the 4 can be used due to noise issues
table 1 in the small room - restricted access
table 2 in the small room - restricted access
Am I right?

I';m running with 5 players plus me on a small table (technically two) in the arches. We all fit around the table with spacve for a sheet each (or pad in my case) but I have to keep all my stuff on the next table along and keep leaning over to grab books/GM screen for reference, which is awkward.
I'd considser that low priority though as I think the larger tables seem needed for boardgames and RPGs with maps. I can stay where I am for now. Would only actually move if there was a free table.

Sorry, I tend to neglect the forums as I otherwise put on my internet hat, and as I use the internet to poke lions with sticks... well you get the rest.
Anyway, for my game it's hard to say.
I have Rob, Loura, Bob, Paul, Daryl, Alan, and Dave currently in my group, with Geoff looking to potentially join the game, which means it's a 9 person group including the GM but it's a drop-in game as I never have everyone each week because people work. Last week I had only 4 players, the week before that I had 6 players and the week before that I had only 2 players. It all depends on who's free. I can usually expect 4-6 players based on peoples timetables.
Luckily it's Shadowrun so we don't need any boards, only a table for D6's and we can usually fit comfortably enough around the far table in the corner so there shouldn't be any issue with us needing a big table.
Interestingly enough, if people are looking for a game on Sundays, I'm running my Shadowrun game on Sundays. Same world setting, same campaign, same characters. So if you play on Monday you can bring your characters on Sundays too. I only have 3 players on Sundays as regulars at the moment so if you're interested we meet at the Wetherspoons next to Shotton train station at 3:30pm but make sure to let me know before hand as we've moved to a new location for the Sunday game. I have space for 1 new player (due to car space). So let me know if you're interested.

Werefishes game runs on a fold out table and a square table at the end. When we are all there there are 7 players I think + the gm. there would be room for a battle mat with the layout we use. If and when someone needs to get up others will need to move to let them out.
As what your asking is basically to swap, all we need is a game of a similar size to swap with them.

I'd like to stay where I am if possible.
The table is used regularly from around 6.45.

TBH ALV switching with Paz kinda makes alot of sense simply because of the start times.

I'll need space for battle-maps, but I'm fine with the front if there's a big enough table that isn't at risk of being nicked by boardgamers. I'll try to arrive a bit earlier on Monday so I can discuss it with you lot.
Sorry I didn't respond sooner, my internet connection was down.

Hows this look?
Big table 1 by the bar - Teflon Billy
Big table 2 by the bar - Paz
Big table in the first room - ALV
Small table in the first room - Me
table 1 in the arches - Tornado Creator
table 2 in the arches - Gerbil
table 1 in the small room - Werefish
table 2 in the small room - Dave
If we have any more people wanting to start games come talk to me first!

Fine with me , but it kinda would be 'cos I'm staying put.
The comments of others are probably more relevant.

Your game needs a big table and you also do early birds magic so makes sense for you to stay there

There are often two board games running, could one fit in the first room so I can still welcome new members in?
I know i'm in your RPG tonight, but not as a rule.

The MtG Booster will be happening Monday (2nd).
In the past this has caused some space issues (probably because it starts earlier and we've just started using tables).
MtG players probably need to be sensitive to potential issues.
Shouldn't be too much of a problem though, as quite a few games won't be happening because people are in the draft.

As I am now joining the Pathfinder group, the 4e 'space' (by the bar) is now officially available.

In that case I think I shall claim that as the number of players makes squeezing the Mage game around one of the small tables awkward.
Is everyone else happy with table space/layout?
