"The role of the committee as a whole was decided to be to facilitate and organise both the discussions between the club, and to act upon what the club wishes to do - after haveing been duly voted on by the club as a whole. The committee will not be having any scheduled private meetings of itself."
Err but they just did.....
When/why did policy change?

More than happy to answer that .
*puts hand up*
Me, I changed it well, decided to have a meeting anyway.
Path of logic/thought going through my mind:
Guy posts of forum needs to know if we have an age limit. Therefore needs an answer/decision, preferably in a timely manner.
Ok, kinda been informally chatted about but there's never been a 'decision'.
Seemed a bit major for me to make it by myself (until AGM).
Whole club votes can be disruptive + not everybody who wanted to express themselves might be there + there's an AGM in a month which people are reasonably aware of.
So it seemed reasonable to call a meeting of the elected 'committee' to make a temporary decision until the AGM (date now set for 10th January).
Hope that answer is satisfactory, if I was wrong then ok. But I'm honestly not sure what else I was supposed to do .

This is something that could be brought up at the AGM, but as far as I see, it's not really an issue. We decided on two things that needed a relatively quick decision, the more important of the two (age policy) will actually be decided at the second of the two AGM.
Indeed, the consensus was to try and avoid taking any decisions that were not vital.
