Refuge is a Live Action Role Playing system based in the world of Thesia. Refuge is an ambitious mid fantasy role playing game set during the aftermath of human civilizations recent fall and carries influences from Roman, Greek, Celtic and Egyptian societies.
Cast into the wilds and left to fend for themselves against all manner of enemies from the native barbaric elves to the indomitable rule of nature herself, humanity survives as a shadow of what it once was searching through the refuse of its civilization for the means in which to survive. Drawn together into communities the players of Refuge will take on challenges both physical and mental in an effort to survive. Idealists will rise to create factions and direct humanity towards whatever destiny will await them.
Refuge aims to provide its players with a different setting in which to immerse themselves, races are similar to what experienced players have come to expect but with poignant differences. The rules are aimed to maximize the potential for player interaction, trade and smooth game play. Combat will as expected be prevalent within the game and so far has proven to be both short and bloody. The ability to harness and bind spirits to your very whim is present in the form of magical rituals.
Characters of all trades are required within the harsh world of Thesia. Coin is smelted down into cutlery and the nobility find themselves cast aside in favor of those with more practical skills. A new social hierarchy of personal skill and ability is forming. As players progress in their crafts; be they carpenters or hunters they will be given the opportunity to express their craft within the game itself, whether it is creating a field hospital or collecting actual herbs for use in healing and medicine.
From the moment you set up camp within the 'caravan' in which the game is set Refuge hopes to bring you into a living breathing world, where the answer to every question can not always be found at the point of a sword.

Projects
The following Projects are currently underway in preperation for the event:
* Watch Tower: We will be setting up a watchtower in order to provide a vantagepoint for those guarding the North eastern end of the camp.
* Outdoor Tavern: Outdoor tavern is being constructed to act as the centeral meeting area for the event. Seating will be arranged around one long table stretching the length of the tavern itself.
* Elven & Human Tents: We have managed to construct a few nomadic style tents for the event to act as camps etc for the other inhabitants the group are likely to stumble accross.
Event Structure
Players arriving on either the firday night or saturday morning before 12am will set up their tents within the designated ic camping area. Those with in character tents will be asked to set up closer to the main camp itself, those without will be provided with covers to make their tents appear more authentic.
Players arriving later on the saturday will be taken to the alternative camping area so as not to disrupt the gameplay. Adventures during refuge are free (and will remain that way) and can be found at the request board at the center of the camp. Alternative craft, trade, magic, diplomatic and medical events will be happening throughout the day within and outside of the camp. These events will be there to ensure that the opportunity to use all skills will arrise over the course of the weekend.
The site will be open plan allowing for players to wander freely around in order to explore (we also have permission from neighbouring landowners, making the site fairly extensive)
