Hi, I'm Simon, another of the new guys - blonde hair, slim, beard (due to some weird gaming side effect, of the regular four men in our group at any one time two of the group must be bearded, two of the group must wear glasses and two of the group must be, erm, larger than the other two... and no-one knows why... theoretically, if I was to shave and wear glasses, Matt would have to switch to contact lenses and grow a goatee...)
When we're not playing boardgames and card-games, which we've been doing a lot of because one of the regular members of our group has been on his honeymoon for about a month, we've played mostly Call of Cthulhu and Dungeons & Dragons. However, I've volunteered to GM the daunting looking Nobilis.
To quote the back-cover: "Imagine Neil Gaiman's Sandman and Clive Barker's Hellraiser on an absinthe bender. With flowers. That's Nobilis."
I have no idea what I've let myself in for.
I've only moved up from London just under two years ago, where I'd not really done much playing for about ten years. I kinda got distracted by the whole music/clubbing scene. For most of that time I was into my Call of Cthulhu and Worlds Of Darkness - it's just I didn't spend much time playing anything other than online games and play by mails.
Aside from further games of Call of Cthulhu and Dungeons & Dragons I'm hoping we'll get to play Paranoia and Unknown Armies.
I'm also largely responsible for bringing in card games, such as Spooks, Gloom, Fluxx and the boardgame Betrayal At House On The Hill. I usually have one of those kicking around if anyone finds themselves at a loose end. Spooks, in particular, can be played in about 5-10 minutes.
That's just about it...
Si
PS - most of the games listed above that you've probably never heard of are set up as links, so if you're interested, you can click onto another page and have a read about it. If you're really really interested I might look into getting a game going sometime.

I'm a bit concerned about that whole 'If you run Nobilis, I'll run Continuum' agreement I made a while ago...

Thanks for reminding me! When you put it like that Nobilis doesn't seem so bad after all.

GSH? Would like to meet?
Is this a dating site? and what's with the rubber fetish gear?
Just kidding
simon
Rubber fetish gear... ah, memories...
I've updated my profile with a picture of me. I never seem to be able to get any colour images within 8KB, so you'll have to settle for a monochrome My Name Is Earl styled picture. Although, after rubber fetish gear perhaps it's a bit too Blue Oyster leather biker...

You know it, sing it with me YMCA.

Weird, I always pictured Simon as the red indian...
simon
Would that be because of the red indian head I've got mounted on the wall at home?
I should've just stuck to the scalp...
This does, of course, mean I'll need to find the picture of myself with the same moustache plus warpaint, doesn't it?

That would've been logical wouldn't it. Actually it was because you appear that way in my dreams. This post just got Jamie-ish, so I'll stop now.

I'm just going to stick a link to my Chester games site here - it's set up as a record of games and scenarios played at the club (rather than the forum, where we discuss these things). Which means stay on the forum for discussions and queries where everyone else can get back to you, but see the other site as a directory of games - feel free to write detailed pieces about the games you've been playing (or would like to play), or if you're GMing a game you could write 'the story so far' and allow the player's a chance to write the story from their character's point of view. It's a WIKI, which means any member can go in and add their own comments to the main articles, or even add pages, though I'd ask you not to completely delete someone else's stuff and rewrite it. Which is possible, so be careful.
At the moment I've used it as a record of the Nobilis game I'm running, though I've listed some of the board game sessions we've had, and Paz has listed the D&D Forgotten Realms adventures we've been involved in. It's also been used to provide a brief introduction to some of the games played at the club (or suggested on the forum).
Please feel free to make use of it - the more the merrier!
