I had a thought about making them out of sheet acrylic and scoring the grid on, but the method above is much cheaper. All the materials could be obtained from the artshop at the end of Watergate row.

i saw foam board on special offer at hobby craft on greyhound park.
can't remember the exact price but it was for a1 sheets i think it was £5 per sheet but check before making a special journey, i just remember thinking "that may come in handy one day"
