Werewolf with Dave Gorman

As you may or may not have seen here Simon has contacted Dave Gorman and shall be introducing him to the werewolf/mafia game.

I fully intend to go myself, I was just wondering how many other people would be interested in going down to London around the 5th of September.

That would be most awsomely cool. I will talk to the wife and see what we think.

Hello!

I'm just had confirmation this morning:

Quote:
Re: Werewolf game - Sunday 5th Sept - 3pm?

Hi Simon,

thanks for this. I've put it in my diary. I do a radio show on Sunday mornings but there should be no problem getting somewhere by 3pm.

Cheers,

Dave

In time I'll set up a Facebook page for all those interested, just so I don't have to visit about three different sites to keep people informed.
HDimagination

Groovy. We are going to see if we can make it down. If we need to recruit more people, I know a gaming club in london that I could invite some people from if nessecary.
simon

Cool. I know we've definitely got enough for a 'normal' sized game, but if we want to go for a large game the more the merrier (in fact, I think we should probably start off with smaller games to make things easier on anyone who's never played, like Dave).

I know a gaming group in London too, unsuprisingly, and was going to see if any of them were interested, although admitedly this was also going to be my way of finding out the practicalities of using the room in a pub they usually use. They've got some sort of deal going on there, since they're allowed to store numerous bits of Warhammer scenery (and big landscape covered boards) in the store room there.

That said, I've already found a number of really cool possible venues, including one called The Slaughtered Lamb. I just need to check them out. The weirdest sounding place is a pub called Lost Angel, which apparently has a lot of muriels of a angel lost in a deep dark forest (and a bunch of stuffed squirrels) and one called simply The Lamb, which is a pub with lots of boardgames of it's own, and apparently the starts of a giant Mouse Trap contraption in their beer garden (including a levitated bath).

As far as numbers go, the Ultimate edition can handle up to 71 people (If the blank cards are used also)

Other than that, you could always run multiple villages, each with their own GM with the possibility of people moving between villages.

This sounds like fun.  I can drive a car of people down.

...and back again?
Liebasket

yeah of course Smile
Jimmy

Head down early sunday and drive back after the games or were you thinking of spending the night down there?
simon

Once the Werewolves have had their way there's no coming back... Wink

I'm thinking about maybe having different versions of the game for different villages. So there can be an Ultimate Village, a Millers Hollow, maybe even a Looney Labs Village (the really basic set I started off with) or a Standard Playing Cards Village.

I'm even thinking of knocking together a set of my own that gives people a Secret Role and a Public Role (so you wouldn't, for example, secretly be an Old Man or a Little Girl, but you might be an Old Man or Little Girl who is secretly a Werewolf). I'm not going to attempt to draw lots of characters, just have the rules for each character on the relevant cards. And include the Mafia roles too, in case people really want to mix it up (or play with Mafia roles for a change).

THIS will of course depend on whether I actually get around to working on it. It may take a while.

Frankly either would work.  Mind you, staying over might be a nice excuse for a games club camping adventure just outside London on the weekend! Razz

I may have just misread/failed to notice something, but who is this Dave Gorman?

There are 22 definites on the Facebook page and 11 maybes. Do we have any non-Facebook members coming along?

Just trying to iron out numbers to book a function room.
simon

Venue booked. Can hold up to 50 people.

Matt P (my husband) is also almost certainly coming. Can we bring his brother too? And when we get closer to the time, tell us if there are spare places, as we have a few friends in London who would love to come, but we wont invite them until we know there's space.
simon

Sure, they're all welcome to come.

I'd imagine it would be fine to invite your London friends now. There's not really any sort of A list of people who get to skip to the front of the queue, so if your London friends are free and want to come, they're in!
simon

Managed to pick up a copy of Ultimate Werewolf, so we can run two games at the same time if necessary. Or we can just use my set to prevent any Chester Werewolf cards being stranded in London.

I also picked up a copy of Werewolves of Millers Holow: The Village - that's so new in English translation I haven't yet found any reviews for it! This'll be another alternative village for the werewolves to invade!

Unfortunately, due to the cost of getting down to London on this weekend (we had to put off booking tickets until Matt's work could confirm that he could have the time off....) we now cannot go. £100 is just too much for a trip, even this one... We do however wish you lots of fun, and hope everyone has a good time!

simon

Ah, that's a shame. Hopefully I'll catch up with you guys sometime when the family can get an extended holiday 'up north' - most of our trips seem to be limited to weekends, and I tend to be back in London before Monday nights.

I don't know if anyone was thinking of taking cameras (inc. video cameras) but it might be nice for those who can't make it down. As long as you bear in mind that Dave Gorman is coming to learn a card game and might get a bit pissed off if he has lots of cameras pointed at him.
