Tina

Why hello there!

SO! I recently went away to America, and while I was there my friends introduced me to MTG - I'm not ashamed to say my geek wall crumbled and now I'm spending a fair amount of time before bed playing online over OCTGN, given that my social network consists of horsey people who aren't even remotely interested. =O

So Hi! My name is Tina, I'm 5'2, am starting a small collection of WWII weaponry, my latest addition being an MG42. I have seven horses, two dogs, four goats, four chickens, two rats, one gerbil, one ferret, two crested geckos, and a hedgehog that lives in my back garden. I drive a 2.8tdi 4x4, and I have an on-and-off obsession with socks and fingerless gloves.

I don't know anyone at the club, unless my friends are holding out information on me, and I'm immensely shy - to the point that I might just hover around the forums for a week or so before I summon up the courage to poke my nose in.

Anyone that owns a machine gun is welcome at the club, do you have a pintle mount for your 4x4 yet?  Very Happy

Come along whenever you feel like, only Tessa bites and that means she likes you.

Ha, if it wasn't so illegal, I'd absolutely have it mounted on my roof! Unfortunately, our local police really wouldn't appreciate that kind of carry on at all. I was stopped on the way home after I collected it when a police riot van pulled up behind me at traffic lights and spotted it in the back of the car - luckily I had a receipt of sale and deactivation certificate. Phew! HOWEVER, if I had a period-appropriate vehicle, i could have it mounted on the roof, haha.

Oh dear

I think you'll fit right in

Hello Tina,

Welcome to the club  Smile  .

If you want a quick game of MtG. I'm available around 7-7.40 (sadly I'm DMing after that).

Very Happy
Tina

That'd be awesome, but I already  have plans for this Monday. Sad though they're not set in stone and may fall through. Also, my only deck is a myr deck my OH gifted me. >>;
Where do you guys buy your magic stuff? Smile
Teflon Billy

I've used:

http://www.magicmadhouse.co.uk/

with no problems.
Tina

Theses nowhere local then? I have a slight spending problem when it comes to online shopping... Hehe...
Teflon Billy

I haven't personally haven't bought any MtG stuff from local shops.

phreaxboy (chris) may be able to help you (he's supplied us with packs for our Booster drafts).
Tina

With a little googling, I've managed to stumble upon a place called Collector's Corner in Chester, based on Chester Market on Princess Street. Unfortunately they're closed on Sundays, so I'll poke my nose down there tomorrow morning sometime, might even pop over to starbucks and get myself some fancy coffee. Mm. Smile
Teflon Billy

Sounds good  Smile , just a word of caution/advice.

A intro or theme deck that you could buy 'pre-made' is never going to be as 'strong' as a 'constructed' deck (one that has been built strategically from individual cards). Perfectly fine as an intro to the game or a basis to build on though.

Enjoy your coffee.
Tina

Well I was just gonna pop down and check it out - I signed up to an official mtg site and for signing up I apparently get a free deck; only thing is I have to travel to Liverpool ( Worlds apart on lime street, apparently. ) to pick it up. Not even sure if it's worth it. My car isn't the best on fuel, and a train ticket would cost me a fiver.. though then I could mill about the store and probaboly spent too much money. Aha.

So do you suppose I should just get myself a bunch of booster packs or..?
Teflon Billy

Maybe play a few games with the Myr deck you mentioned and get a better feel for the game/what colours/themes might interest you.
Tess

I Tina, I don't bite! He's just being mean.
See you at the club soon I hope, if you wander in looking lost I'll keep an eye out and see if we can set you up with a game
