Right everyone conception is on again this year, and I am organising it.    It is 5 days of RPG's with some board games and larp, 3 games a day.  It sounds like a lot but you wont notice the time passing.

Prices will be announced later, last year accommodation was around £50 and each game costs £3 for 4 hours of entertainment.

http://www.conceptionuk.org/

Register your interest below.  Booking has to be made on the 1st of August, I will need a £10 deposit by the end of July.

I need someone to organise t shirts/hoodies again this year any volunteers?

If you want to run games please do, its not intimidating.  I ran 3 games last time I went despite man flu.

Now for the small print

I will be booking one of the biggest lodges(maybe more depending on level of interest) and setting a price based on it being almost full.  If the final cost is lower the extra cash will get thrown into a kitty for buying cakes at the event.  Your place will not be secured until you have paid the deposit, you lose your place and your deposit if you do not pay by the deadlines set, probably in September.  Sorry but I do not have the cash to sub for other people this year like I have had to do in the past.

If you pay for the deposit and then find you cant make it come and talk to me, quite happy to be flexible but will not let anyone take the p**s this year.

This is being organised separate from the club.  Though I imagine most of us will be representing the club, we may have a few outsiders* in with us.

* no you cant burn them, but poking with a stick is acceptable.

Interested so far

As ever I am very keen on going. Will be my 4th conception!
There is one other person who came with me last year who wants to come again.

I will point out that last year I had one of the off site caravans, it means a 5 minute drive (or taxi) there and and back, but it was ALOT cheaper and can sleep 6 easy.

So if people want to go but are worried about money this could be a good money saving option.

So yeah put me down for 2!

How much did taxi's cost and how much was the caravan?

Lodges are 5 mins walk from the games hall and have a full kitchen so food can be prepared there.  Food from the fast food place, wasnt that bad but was quite expensive.

The carvans are kitted out with kitchen and shower room too. The travel wasn't expensive and if I remeber right the whole caravan was only about £50ish. So it's alot less.

the main problem with them is that they get very cold over night and during the day, the heating can't be left on for longer than 4 hours I think it was.

We will need to balance the cost of the lodge with self bought food, somewhere local to play games, 5 minutes walk to the games hall etc Vs The cost of the caravan, plus taxis to and from the site for 6ish people, buying food at the event and incoveniance of having to get taxis back and forth.

I know what I prefer but Im willing to be convinved otherwise.  Can I have names for the people you have that are intersted so I can update the post above.

Not exactly, it depends, if a cars worth of people want to get a caravan and the driver doesn't want to drink then it's up to them.

What I would do is play your own games during slot one, board game or RPG. Then have a cooked lunch and take something to eat for dinner. Although you can do that in any kind of accomodation haha. Just putting it out there for people to think about.

It was ALOT cheaper. If money isn't an issue then the Lodge is fine. But it is definately a possible alternative for people, being off site it's alot less busy too. I also managed to book it alot later on, so last minute additions to the group aren't as big a worry as in years when they didn't have the caravan options.

Price wise a 4 bed lodge booked early is £340 and can sleep 8 people in bedrooms. 2 of them being doubles. (the t&c state that max occupancy is 2 adults per room, so a double can be split between one person and another on an airbed or sofa) So thats £42.50 each. If it's not full I am sure people don't mind paying more and less and having the money for their own food puchases.

A 3 bed caravan is £130 and sleeps 6. so thats £21.66. Approximately half the amount for full occupancy. (5 would be £26 a better number for 1 car)

A 3 bed Lodge that sleeps 6 (1 double 2 twin) is a smidge less per person than the 8. at £41.66.

So for £15 extra over a caravan between 5 you can have a lodge (provided you have a 6th person if not its £24 more). Having said that its a total of £75 less for the 5 person group to have a caravan. So its swings and roundabouts really. Each option has its advantages.

There is me and a guy called Dave Hughes from here who are definates.

I have 2 definates (as long as there is car space) from 2 others already. John and Iwan. Another will come but he is a teacher so depends on term times. And another is looking into it and will get back to me, but is very interested. So I could have 6 just from here haha, and I only sent the txts of 5 mins ago!

But there are definately 4 of us who would give deposits right now if there is transport space.

(sorry for the length or the responce, just wanted to give a good idea to everyone of the options)

(all the price stuff was based on last year so as long as its the same price that will be accurate)

I plan to come and will get the deposit to you either as soon as I remember or as soon as you prod me.

As for the Lodge vs. caravan thing, I'd much rather a lodge as I don't necessarily game in every slot and like to be able to wander over at will to look at the stalls and check if any new games have been posted. The trouble with taxis or cars is you'd be more limited in how often and when you could go to the hall. I'd personally rather pay more for the extra freedom and convenience.

Ideally we'll have enough people to support both options.  Very Happy

I would be interested if there is still space.  I can afford the lodge and have never really been fond of caravans, but not so opposed that I won't.
