One of the suggestions in the "Real Club" thread, before it became derailed, was the idea of having a club newsletter. I'd be happy to edit a newsletter (although not generate content).
I thought it might be worthwhile gauging interest, hence this poll. Please vote, and feel free to post further comments about what content might be and how frequent it might be. Obviously we can't agree to spend club funds without at least some form of meeting.

I think a regular email about goings on at the club could be interesting. While I do like to socialise and chat before gaming it's not always about the games we're in so there are a number of games going on I know nhothing about.
It'd be nice if we could have "What we did this week" thing were GMs give a brief summary of their latest session and board gamers talk about any new games they played. We could also include "What's coming up" where people could advertise games they want to run.
If we could make this available onliune as well it would give new people interested in the club an idea of what goes on at the club. _________________ I'm here to kick ass and take names! If that's okay with everyone...
Club newsletter I think wouldn't work. I can't envisage there being enough content to keep people interested. However if people wanted to expand it so they could use it in job applications or try to get free CENSORED / press access (not as daft as it sounds, some of the smaller publications I read get press passes to conventions.) I can't see why not have a go. But create the thing because people want to write it, not because the club "should have one".
But Matts idea I like, I've seen some GMs post something of the like (after action report). Helps a missing player catch up and all parties able to retrace their path to where they are. Ofc makes sure its clear that its optional, if a GM wants to reuse content at a later point with a different group or just doesn't have the inclination / time to do it, don't want them feeling pressured.

GMs wanting to re-use adventures is a good point hadn't thought of that.
I wasn't suggesting each GM write up a full essay of what happened (most do enough work preparing the game), just a brief blurb summarising the session in a paragraph or two. Kind of an "In this weeks episode" sort of thing.
It doesn't even need to be the GM that submits it. We could have one person who has a quick chat with each GM to be able to submit a bare bones blurb. _________________ I'm here to kick ass and take names! If that's okay with everyone...

Can we add another option? How about a club notice board/table. Something we can set up each night and let people look after what they have up on there themselves.
Im thinking one of those half white ones, a list of games running with/without spaces on one side and general notices on the other.

Could we store a pin board or similar upstairs? If so I think that is a better plan in terms of games current / upcoming; as it can be up in the first room as people come in each week. We can also stick up 'post-its' of gms who can't attend unexpcetedly etc.
As members currently don't keep current games details up to date on the forum I think it is unrealistic to expect them to do a write up each week (or however often) for a newsletter. To scribble something on a board thats right there in front of everyone requires minimal effort and no memory.
If anyone would be willing to regularly write content for a newsletter please state in this thread, along with what content you would like to offer.
I would suggest a weekly email format perhaps linked to an online PDF
That way the PDF could be printed on demand if people wanted one, but no one misses out because they didn't see the notice board that week and everybody gets a copy at no cost to the club. _________________ http://woogledesigns.livejournal.com
Some people have problems with using the forum, or don't log on. A Newsletter can be a digest of the most relevant news and an opportunity to make sure all the most important information goes out to everybody, and some people respond better to the format.
