I am strongly moving that we do a swiss format. Quick and easy to do and results in a clear winner 99/100.
Anyone who doesn't know what that is it works like this.
1st draw is at random, (names from a hat, whatever). After that it works on points, so winners play winners etc. It works best in 8s and 16s, but 10 would work to. round 1-5 winners, 2-2/3 winners 3-1/2 winners.
It is a best of 3, awarding points for a win or a draw (draws can only happen if there is a time limit though). (notice not 1 point per win, normally 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw)
So it may need a round 4 to decide 1st and 2nd, but may not.
As for the timing issue, if we want it to finish within a certain time we need to have timed rounds. Currently its possible for one game to go on for an infinate amount of time after all the others have finished.
I'm not trying to force change here, I have played alot of drafts (almost 20) and almost all of them use the swiss format, this is for a good reason and I am happy to discuss why with anyone.
Any thoughts? _________________ All those who are about to die. I salute you!

TBH I'm pretty neutral on the player matching thing, the main point being that it doesn't involve much admin at the time.
If someone else is happy to do the calculations on the day, I'm fine with it (don't think its that big a deal though, we kinda want to keep it pretty relaxed).
From a timing point of view I think might be better off doing a 'straight swiss' tournament (no knockout rounds). I think its potentially too much of a rush otherwise.

It's alot less admin. We spent alot of time drawing cards and that doesn't need to be done. There is a simple table that does it all without spending time drawing cards. I don't mind doing it, it's really no work at all.
A knock out really isn't needed with so few players. They are for 60+ players normally. _________________ All those who are about to die. I salute you!

Yeah experience has taught us that forums are not the best place to have this sort of discussion. I would recommend treating this as a brainstorming session and properly discuss the ideas at the magic council.
Important question though, do we wear hats for the meeting? _________________ The Master can blow me, Monkey-Suit. Bloodrayne 2
