Moments after your ship Ophidium Gulf (a space marine strike cruiser) transits to real space the claxons sound calling all space marines to the chapel, glorious war will soon be upon you but first as it right the Emperor be praised. You feel gravity plating adjusting as the ship alter course to meet up with the other Black Templar ships in system.

As you arrive in the chapel the smells of pungent incense fills the air and you notice that the pict screens have been activated. Upon the screen you see images being broadcasted from the Chapters capital ship and effective home world The Eternal Crusader. Reclusiarch Mordred recently joined the Emperor in the Eternal Battle in the time after and his replacement has been selected. His replacement Chaplain Grimaldus, you’ve heard his name mentioned almost as much as the Reclusiarch Mordred while in your initiation and it was generally expected amongst the chapter that he would inherit the role.

High Marshall Hellbrecht stands centre of the screens view, and before him kneels Grimaldus. Its towards the end of the rite and as Hellbrecht strikes Grimaldus in the face with his clenched fist a cheer goes up amongst the initiates and sword brethren. Grimaldus rises now bruised but now Reclusiarch of the Black Templar.

Once the chapters praise to the Emperor had been finished the briefing began in earnest.

Before you stands Sword Brethren Raimer. Brethren we stand here united with Brothers from over 20 other chapters, hundreds of companies of imperial guard and a half dozen legio of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Yet still in the battle to come we are to be massively outnumbered, for headed this way is the greatest assembly of Orks that has ever been seen. We will not allow this alien plague infect one of the Emperors world. We stand against them in this our Eternal Crusade!
We have a half dozen Battleships of the Imperial Navy, an equal number of Battle Barges of the Astartes, three fold that number in cruisers and many hundreds of escort ships yet we will not be able to hold the orbit around the planet. This war will be fought on the ground!

Our chapter master the High Marshall will be co-coordinating the battle amongst the stars, yet even while this happens, we Black Templar must play our part on the planet. Under the command of Reclusiarch Grimaldus, a company of our brothers plus infantry and mechanized companies of the imperial guard will hold the hive city of Hellsreach.

Our scout forces have yet been trained nor the experience to take part in the battle over Armageddon, so therefore they will setup in remote locations and provide intel in the ground war. And where possible strike against enemy weaknesses.

This will be a long war, earn honor for the chapter and give praise to the Emperor for this chance to slay the unclean alien filth.

You are given your orders.

Head down to armoury 4, there you will meet your squad leader and gather equipment for the mission to come.

In the armoury stands the fellow brothers of your chapter, but one stands apart, Initiate Amaras.

Amaras is a bit of a legend amongst the neophytes, long ago he could have become one of the Sword Brethren, yet he remained an Initiate and in doing so has personally trained the most neophytes in the chapters history. His right arm has been replace by bionics, a warp beast poisoned his arm in a battlefield years past, rather than let the taint creep through after slaying the beast he cut off his own arm.

Neophytes, gear up. We are in for a long war upon Armageddon, against the vile Orks. Expect close dirty fights. And remember Orks only stay dead and gone if you burn the mess they leave behind

Ok, equipment time, you have 30 requisition to purchase equipment. As a rule bolt and other solid projectile weapons will come with 3 mags, flame weapons 2 mags and the missile launcher 1 mag of frag missiles. Additional ammo can be bought at 1/3 the weapons cost for bolt, ˝ the weapons cost for flame and missile rounds bought as detailed in the book.

Starting equipment I’m giving you for free is:
Scout Armour
Carapace Armour
Bolt Pistol +3 Mags
2 Frag Grenades
1 Krak Grenade
Mono Combat Knife

The rest is up to you.

My books will be available for you to use on Monday.

Deadline is Friday 7/10 @ 20:00 GMT

I will Take a Sniper Rifle, A Bolter, and a Shotgun

Yeah thats right I love guns

Xander

With a range of 200m you'll only take penalties at 200-799m which puts you by far at the longest shot out of the group.

Kerghan, being something of a technophobe, grudgingly accepts and uses (when necessary) the standard equipment given to him by the Black Templars. Mostly he prefers to trust his trusty hammer, The Fury of Talsis. As an afterthought he takes a hand flamer for clean up when the true fighting is done.

Lukas preferring to be ready for any sort of situation with the foul green skins will requisition a Bolter, Chainsword, extra 5 magazines of Bolter ammo, 2 magazines of Kraken ammo, 4 extra Frag grenades and 1 extra Krak grenade.

Not sure if I made it clear or not, but the player and npc specific text colours are for when you are saying something. Text describing actions you are doing and rolls you want to make should be in the automatic colour.

It's probably easier if I leave what you've done stand for now and say that its you reserving your colours. But once we get into full swing please remember.

Remembering that a mission is not all about guns, Kaleb selects, without hesitation:
A flamer with a chain attachment
1 extra flamer fuel
1xStummer
Magnoculars

Kaleb takes an Auspex, a cartograph, a pair of magnoculars, a glow globe and some other bits of equipment and places them on the loading bench. And says.....

*Anger is evident on Kaleb's Brow*
Brothers! Have you all become fools without my knowledge?!
The Emperor protects indeed, but he does not protect those who ignor their training.

Kerghan! Get your head out of the woods and take something usefull along with you. I care not of your misgivings of technology, these are the Emperors gifts and you SHALL use them!

Lukas, why take a shotgun when the boltgun, a most sacred weapon, has more stopping power and with better range, you expect to require your shotgun when exactly? 120 additional shot brother. From what I know of Orcs shooting will attract more of them, with the carefull selection of more practical survival gear, such as a multi-key or Auspex will help make every bolt count.

Xander, I say to you also, the shotgun or the bolter, there is no need for both. The sniper rifle is a logical choice, perhaps the addition of a silencer or telescopic sight would increase it's value to our mission.

And I say to all of you my brothers, what if we need to destroy an enemy command bunker, what if we need to destroy an enemy vehicle? Demolition charges may be costly but a well placed missile will see our duty done.

I ask you, in the name of the Emperor of mankind, how you expect us to complete our mission, when we will be dead for want of basic equipment.

*A solem look crosses Kaleb's face*
I suggest you look again my brothers, for I do not want to watch you all die.

Game Rule #1 Let other people play their characters - I know you're trying to help, but I'm already on it as a GM. And it might be nice to start the help in the OOC thread than undermining their characters straight away IC

Lukas turned halfway towards Brother Kaleb as he launched into his short sermon.

Be at ease brother, the green skins attack in waves and I do not want to be standing there listening to the click of my Bolter before our blades get to taste xenos.

Having a good idea of Kaleb from what he knew of him, Lukas added,

I will take the Auspex, however.  Just in case our eyes miss the tide of green skins.

Going back to the armoury, Lukas returns the extra grenades, a clip of Kraken ammo and 2 clips of Bolter ammo in return of an Auspex.  Glancing over to Kerghan, Lukas gave him a smirk,

Take a Boltgun, brother.  If only to keep him happy.
