Leaving the relative shelter of the ruined shuttle behind you set off towards your original rendezvous point. You make good time, your improved biology makes light of what would have previously been a punishing pace.
Survival checks
Makradon @Int -10 = 89 Fail
Kherghan @Int = 96 Fail

Although stopping whenever you had signs that you might be near water or animal life, you don’t manage to find anything.

Around 4 hours of walking your vox units spring into life.
This is High Marshall Hellbrecht of the Black Templar, Fleet Commander for the defense of Armageddon. The Orks have arrived in system; current ship count is showing in excess of 300 ships including at least 4 space hulks. Our orbital forces are pulling away from Armageddon so we can maneuver away from the gravity well and not be pinned against the planet. As we thought we’re going to be unable to prevent the landing. Orbital support will be unavailable until we can establish system dominance. Stand strong in the light of the Emperor and we will be triumphant.

I’ll give you till Monday 7/11/11 @ 20:00, short one this time

After listening to the High Marshal's message Jacobus looks to the skies.

“Now the third great war for this world begins, may the Emperor smile upon the righteous.”

(Make a Scholastic Lore: Codex Astartes test to see if he can figure out how close to the planet an enemy would usually be for Astartes' ships to execute this manoeuvre and roughly how much time there would be before the enemy reach the atmosphere.)

Roll Int Check = 17 Pass
It's not a matter of time. While gravity wells enable ships to perform high speed turns, they slow down acceleration and reduce manuverability from stand still. Therefore getting out of it and being able to do high speed hit and run attacks against superior numbers makes tactical sense.

(attempt to return contact on the frequency we are meant to transmit our findings on. If that doesn't work I will go through every other fequency, if I still have no luck I will transmit the message on the most likely to be recieved (an open channel? whatever could work)

This is Neophyte Kableb, of Initiate Amaras' squad. We crash landed some distance off course. Initiate Amaras did not survive the impact, the rest of the squad is intact and we will continue on with our mission.
Transmission form High Marshall Helbrecht recieved.
We shall run the sands black with greenshin blood untill the fleets return.
For the Emperor!

Makradon will continue on with the squad and keep a close eye out for signs of either the enemy or resources that may prove beneficial to myself or the squad.

You continue marching on through the wastelands throughout the night, your hightened senses making light work of the half darkness of the clear night.

Survival checks
Makradon @Int = 29 Pass
Kherghan @Int = 16 Pass

Through Makradon's and Kherghan's skill you find a buried source of water, although in this toxic landscape you're certain it wouldn't be fit for human consuption. Good thing you're not human.

You may choose to refil water or drink from the supply at this point, but it may cause harm to you depending on how hardy you are.

...

Through the morning clouds, streaked with fire from atmospheric entry and damage from breaking through the orbital defenses come the Ork troop landers. Burning hulks juddering as their boosters fire, slowing them before they plowed into the ground. Over the horizon they pour or decending through the clouds. A few you see coming from towards the city show massive signs of damage, breaking apart before they even make the ground.

As more xeno ships break through the clouds, your heightened senses start making out xeno fighter craft prowling for targets, but never venturing too far south east. An Ork ship ploughs into the ground maybe 200 miles north west of you, its heavy impact wavers you on your feet, but you stand strong.

So folks, the invasion of Armageddon has begun in earnest. Just run you through some important points, you scout armour gives you a +10% Bonus to concealment tests, meaning that makes you difficult to spot from air, and the Orks are yet to establish air superiority (just random fighter groups for now). You may soon have to deal with the chance of being spotted from the air.

With regards to the Ork troops and vehicles on the ground, the heavy the vehicle, the longer it will take them to get it up and working after landing, which means for the time being it should be only light stuff you may come across. The Orks will be heading towards Helsreach at some point, but they’ll probably amass first.

So plans? So far you've pushed yourselves for around 10-12 hours. You’ve got till Sunday 13/11/11 @20:00 to say how you want to proceed.

I will take some of the water but only as a reserve if things get desperate, if that means re-arranging the containers then fine, but it will only take a minute of two.

They come, our mission begins, we should investigate any of the closer landings, make note of numbers and so on. We desperately need long rage communications devices, do we head to the hive? Or try and intercept another friendly landing?

When the chance came up to replenish their water supplies, Lukas topped off his used canteen with what he could but making sure to keep his unopened containers separate from the now tainted one.

As the morning broke and the sky lit with the approach of the descending orks, Lukas took a moment to watch the approaching horde as their ships punched through the uper atmosphere.  A small hint of a smile broke on his lips as some of the larger crafts, if such a term could even be used for such crude vessels, broke up either from damage or from craftsmanship but it was soon clear that the vast majority of vessels were making planetfall.

"Our first priority brothers should be to the mission, we should push on towards the rendezvous point.  In saying that though, if we can gather information on the greenskins we can relay that once we fine something suitable for communications but we cannot allow the events around us to sway our duty.  We should make best speed for our mission area."

It seems you forget our mission brother, it is to scout movement, numbers and disrupt where possible. These are oportunities to do so.

I'm going to let this run a bit longer as a suggestion for doing something different has come up and not really been discussed.

Friday 18/11 @ 20:00 is the close time

At hearing Kableb comment, Lukas will turn to him and take a step towards him, making sure that even over the echoing thunder of the landing his words would be clear,

"No brother, you forget yourself.  We are tasked with another mission, we are meant to be over there,"

Taking a moment to physically point in their heading for the past day,

"Our mission is to report on xeno activity in that area after planetfall and as I see it, the orks have breached orbit.  Our mission is now to move to the rendezvous point, we should continue on mission as ordered.  I say we push on at best speed.  We map any landfalls we see but our duty is clear."

Pausing for a second, Lukas looked around at the others before finishing,

"This is our first taste of true battle, brothers.  I will not see our duty go unanswered.  We should move on to the rendezvous point."
