A fire that is rarely seen burns in Kalebs eyes, restraint is obvious yet severely strained. The voice of a skilled orator and fierce warrior.
We should move to the rendezvous point as ordered. We should also make note of enemy movements as ordered. The reason we are here is to be behind enemy lines and gather intelligence. As l said, we should investigate any CLOSER landings.
Tell me, would our arrival at the rendezvous point have more value if we had something usefull to report? Or should we simply tell them that 'We decided to head straight for the rendevous point, and ignor all chances to fulfill our primary objective.' I will not be the one to bring shame to our chapter. Your assumed prioritisation of our orders is at odds with both logic and tactical sense. We have landed off course, this should be used to our advantage where possible, this is a chance to do so. This is not a discussion, this is what is happening. Those true to the Emperor and those who rely on our actions, to me. Anyone else, farewell.
Do as you feel is right, lest you fail in the Emperors sight.
(ignoring any contrary discussion) Making a note of, as best I can tell, the closest landing that will take me the least off course. Sharing this information with anyone who agrees with me and move in that direction as soon as possible. (Any attempt to disuade him will be either ignored or met with words like, 'I will not arrive to the rendezvous point with nothing but word of the death of Amaras.' or 'Oportunity presents itself, these are our orders, ignor them on your own head.' _________________ All those who are about to die. Kerghan strides after Kaleb irritation obvious on his face.
I would be inclined to agree brother, but your focus too narrow and your actions not thought through.
We should seek higher ground and mark the locations of as many landing sites as we can. We may even to be able to identify mass-movement on the part of the xenos. Then we can make an informed decision as to where to gather more detailed information. Running off to the nearest landing site may not be as usweful as you think.
He reaches Kaleb and clasps a hand on his shoulder applying slightly more pressure than nessecary as his usual friendly nature disappears and claer anger creeps into his voice.
You are also part of a team. No single one of us has authority over the others, do not presume you have that right. Learn to work with the rest of us or you'll kill us all.
Kergahn lets go of Kalebs shoulder and studies the surroundings, looking for a better vantage point. (perception check)
While the surrounding terrain is by no means flat, with hills covering the expanse. The sheer distances involved mean that you're not going to make anything out distinct at these ranges. You can track where the nearest Ork ship landed mainly due to seeing it come down and the massive amounts of smoke and earth thrown into the air from its decent _________________ I'm here to kick ass and take names! If that's okay with everyone...
Lukas stood fast as Kaleb voiced his own opinion of their situation but did not back down or turn away from his fellow Neophyte through all of what he had to say, even holding his ground and temper when Kaleb started using the Emperor's name. Waiting until Kaleb was finished, Lukas watched Kergahan approach Kaleb and listened to his other brothers words before finally speaking,
"We have neither the supplies or the time to spend chasing after ork landings that take us away from our primary mission. We don't know even know if another squad is assigned to this area and have already reported back what we have witnessed. We are not even meant to be here,"
Again Lukas would point in the direction of the rendezvous point,
"All we know is we are ordered to that location. We can chart ork landing and numbers until our supplies run out, but if we don't find a way to report back in our very presence here is a waste."
Looking over from Kaleb to Kergahn, Lukas added,
"The high ground would serve us well, yes, but I still think that making our observations on our way back to the rendezvous point is the best course brother."
Glancing around at the others, Lukas wondered if anyone else had an opinion.
Makradon chuckles to himself whilst walking in to a position at the front of the squad, once composed he speaks.
Brothers, your petty squabbles bring shame to the Emperor, we are supposed to be a team and each of you should act as such... We are at war agaisnt our enemy yet all I see is a battle of egos.
Yes, we have lost Brother Amaras but have you all forgotten your training? You bring shame to our fallen Brother.
We already decided back at the crash site to head towards the rendezvous and I suggest we carry on as such, we can make notes of any enemy sightings until we find a way to communicate these, if the entire squad doesn't agree with this then I suggest we elect a squad leader whos word will be final.
Makradon then turns away from the squad with his gun resting on his shoulder looking in to the distance.
Whatever your decision Brothers, please be hasty, we need to get moving.
Looking over at Markradon for perhaps one of the more sensible ideas Lukas had heard voice since the squad’s planetfall, he nodded in agreement and ignored the remarks before the idea about selecting a leader for them.
"Agreed. We should pick someone to have the final say over us. We might all be Neophytes but we need to focus otherwise we will be lost,"
Turning around to Kerghan, Lukas nodded at him for a second before speaking,
"Kerghan, you have some past knowledge of leading, yes? I say we use that to our advantage."
While the last words from Kerghan had not been in total agreement with himself, Lukas knew the price of failure on this mission and he would not allow a simple disagreement to stop them.
"Whoever we pick, I will follow as my superior until we find ourselves with the Chapter again."
Ok you've taken the initiative to pick a squad leader, I wondered if you were going to to this at some point or not.
I'm going to unlock the thread for you're discussion and decision if you are going to determine a squad leader. If you do select one, I'll post up a thread detailing what it gives you.
You've got till Sunday 27/11 @ 20:00 for discussion and I want a specific answer by Monday 28/11 @ 23:00.
Could everyone please chip in on this one, that way I know people are getting a say in if and who is squad leader and ofc if they're still playing the game.

I can see we're getting nowhere and time is against us. With command not knowing our fate, we're potentially going to waste if they have intel that could put us to work. I move for pressing on and making note of that landing site, though I doubt they'll miss it.
It's their movements after landing that will be harder to track.
Kergahn sigh and scrathes his temple idly.
I'm reticent to assume command without input from our superiors but it may help reduce disagreements. I'll happily share my experience as a leader and keep things from getting out of hand again, but only if you're all behind me.
The last thing we need is a power struggle. _________________ I'm here to kick ass and take names! If that's okay with everyone...
"I believe that we shouldn't set anything in stone as the events of war shift as quickly as these dunes in a storm but I am willing to follow Brother Kergahn as our provisional squad leader."
